*For one presenter, or two on some BBC News outputs, a printer that size wouldn't be required? They have all of their screens inside the desk, and a small printer would easily work if its to print the notes for the presenters? A large one could easily be off camera.

I believe, however, that it is a laser printer. Which is quiet - compared to inkjets and more economical as the toners are long lasting and they print quickly also.

That's probably why it is used.

And it is possibly out from under the desk for easy access by the presenters. Sky probably have the same

We have a small HP laser printer in the Admin room at school, this or similar http://tinyurl.com/bq7fcfk ! Lovely printer and always clear and quiet!

There's no room under the desk - plus, as news junkie says, a laser printer is much quicker and the ink lasts much longer. It's not a big deal anyway because the camera isn't that high most of the time, it's only seen occasionally on some of the higher side shots.

how long have they been running these extended trailers for the 10 O'Clock News after Eastenders?

If you mean like the one below, then for the last 6 or 7 months:

If I remember correctly they were trialled last year and made a pernament feature this year.

She's doing the One today, according to her Twitter.

Is it not normal to be in TC7?

Normally headlines at that time are done at the CSO. Rarely is it done from TC7, although increasingly it is.

Usually the headlines are done from N10, the clip studio, I think. The 1 itself will be done from N6.

I wonder if this is because the clip studio is out of use for some reason? If it was, for example for maintenance, where would they go? Isn't it also used for the BBC Three 60 second updates, hence it's in use all week long?

They may have been in TC7 because N10 is having some technical problems. TC7 is the only BBC News studio which isn't in use at this time (bar N9).

Dan Roan using screen in BBC Sport Centre studio for report on Bahrain Grand Prix. Notable use of the studio's new screen there. It's a small screen but looked quite good with the backdrop.
