So why was the 6 in N6 then? Seems to be some strange goings on over the last few days.

Yes. You can't get much weirder than a lighter backdrop.

There's more than that, though. At the weekend, News 24 joined World for a bulletin at lunchtime and extra filler programmes were used at odd times.

The weekend issues were due to the air con in N6 failing - so to keep the temperature down they played extra programmes and joined World so they could turn the studio lights off to get it to a temperature bearable for them to do the BBC One midday summary.

Then TC7 suffered a technical meltdown which pushed the Six into N6.

This sort of thing always happens when the weather gets a bit warmer!! Wink

And they've just upgraded both these studios!! Rolling Eyes

Fair play though, there was little noticeable distruption - probably only us here noticed. So well done to those who probably worked their backsides off to keep the show on the road.

I was going to say I have seen a lot of sweaty presenters in recent days. They have been dripping in some cases.

I'm surprised none of them commented on the lack of air-conditioning, or at least said something about the hot situation.

I did notice that the World studio aircon was noticeable when they crossed to it... though I put that down to N6 being a proper(ish) studio rather than World purposely arrange for the aircon to the audible just to rub it in for those in N6 Very Happy

Did anyone watch the News at Six? Who on earth was that chav reporting on the China earthquake? Seriously, it sounded as though he'd won some sort of competition and got dumped on the news to make a report. Talked reallyyy sllowww with a very broad yorkshire accent, sounded as though he was a teenager, and obviously missed a lot of broadcast jorrunalism classes, because he kept giving his opinion and saying ''I've seen this'' ''I've met this person'' ''This looks awful to me.''

The VizRT system in TC7 just failed (badly) at the end of Newsnight - the newspapers got stuck on the Daily Mail 's front page, and it then cut back leaving Jeremy facing completely the wrong camera. The credits also failed to materialise, leaving him just staring at the camera and shuffling some papers while the music played, although the endcap did appear as normal.

It didn't seem that bad, only the likes of us would've noticed really. They often just have the endcap rather than full credits on Newsnight , although not with such a long segment of the music.

Is that a new sofa? It now has a backrest all the way round, where as it didn't before.

As an aside, I thought Paxo's verbal mauling of the Chancellor was excellent!

This could be put in the mistakes and bloopers thread.

Not really, as it wasn't a mistake many people would notice. I only posted the clip because someone else mentioned it and I happened to be still watching a recording of Newsnight at the time.

At the beginning of todays BBC News at One. One of the Barco screens behind the presenter was far darker than the rest. Is this a mistake or has it got to with how the cameras record?

I think the screen had a fault. Looked terrible during the whole programme.
