30yrs ago, and here's Her Highness of the Headline telling us of the economic woes of the day. Deja-vu? Also, isn't that a rather jaunty and illogically voiced intro for South East at Six prior to the news bulletin? It makes the programme feel as if it's The Generation Game or Blankety Blank!
Advert about the BBC News at Ten on BBC Two. Very strange and unexpected. I hope someone capped it. George telling us about what's coming up tonight. Took me by surprise!!
Also had a BBC News at Ten dog at the bottom, like BBC News Channel.
I've noticed that the backdrop behind Stephanie Flanders is very clear indeed, no sign of chroma key, and the picture is completely 16:9. Are they using the big screen in Washington studio for that purpose? I've noticed when the studio isn't in use, a view of the White House is shown on the screen, so it's a possibility.

I seem to recall Peter Sissons/Michael Buerk regularly did a trailer for the Nine/Ten O'Clock News about 10 years ago or so. They used to stand up in the newsroom for it. As I recall, it used to go out on BBC1, not BBC2. It's been a long time since I watched BBC1 prime time live - when did that promo cease?
Over the past several years they've regularly produced trailers for the BBC News at Ten/ Ten O'Clock news - in N6 pre-2008, in TC7 post-2007 - but they were on BBC One. I wonder why they're now doing them on BBC Two?
