How was it introduced by the announcer on BBC1?

Here on BBC One and BBC One HD now, it's over to Maxime Mowinny in the BBC News Room.

There were no titles.

There were titles on my TV

Maybe I wasn't paying attention but I don't remember seeing titles on BBC One. I no longer have it recorded to check now. Maybe you are right.

There were definitely titles. Maxine ran through the TOTH headlines first, then the titles ran as normal, then Maxine introduced the first story. A standard News Channel TOTH really, just simulcast on BBC One. Only difference between the two channels was a 37" countdown leading into it on the NC, and an ident with a CA on BBC One.

Nice to see TC7 getting used more effectively today, with panning effects being used and the corner of TC7 being used.

And at the quarter past summary - a studio pan from behind the cameras and towards Sian. Someone is being creative at the BBC tonight!

The corner has been used a few times over the past two months or so. I'm sure Robert Peston has made use of it. Looks good.

Indeed, but it was a bit over the top at the start of the Six tonight when the camera seemed to be trying to look up Sian Williams's skirt, before panning up a little too fast. Just as I'm writing though, the pan at 6:15 was quite nice.

Yes, I know what you mean. They've been doing some terrible panning shots on the One recently which end with shots like this:

With Sian doing the 6 & 10 tonight, have Charlie Stayt or Susanna Reid ever done a normal BBC News bulletin?

When was the last time Bill Turnbull did a BBC News bulletin?

I think Charlie Stayt has only ever done a Saturday lunchtime bulletin, but that's all, if memory serves me correctly. I don't think Susanna's ever presented a BBC1 News bulletin, apart from the Andrew Marr Show updates.

I believe the last time Bill Turnbull presented a BBC1 News bulletin was the One/Six all the way back in 2006!

At that point, Bill was officially Dermot Murgahan's stand in / relief wasn't he? Was he officially on the Breakfast team at that point?

Yes, Bill's been a regular part of the BBC Breakfast team for a long time. He became Jeremy Bowen's stand-in when Darren Jordon left for the One O'Clock News in c. 2001/2002. Before that, he used to present afternoons with Valerie Sanderson on BBC News 24. He later had a spell of co-presenting the Six O'Clock News in c. 2003/2004, iirc.
