At the end of the BBC News at Ten, Fiona Bruce stood up at the screens for the last story - rarely done. Back at desk for handover to regions / Chris Eakin.
Have to say that Fiona is my favourite newsreader on "the Ten" - simple delivery but engaging
I imagine this might be a regular thing from now on - wide shot opening for the teatime news and standing for the Ten. The few times that the Six has been from N6 since the relaunch they have never stood up.
It does look far better - for what
should
be such a flexible set (with two standing positions, if you count both where reporters and business presenters come from and the area the weather comes from) they let it get very stale. What I don't understand is why a presenter standing in itself needs to be rehearsed - as established business and sports presenters both stand and sit from that area on the NC and Film24 has no time for rehearsal, and they used to stand at the screen in the far pod quite a lot for the TOTH on News 24.
I'm still much more of a fan of the set layout the nationals had pre-2008 in N6 than this. At the very least they made N6 seem a lot bigger on screen during that time, even if it had to suit a different purpose.
