Strange error at the start of the Ten O'Clock News - most of the image was slightly dimmed for most of the headlines - now there is no ticker, and there was no BBC News box.

Looking on iPlayer restart, the problem was only on the BBC News channel. Weird that the BBC News box appeared on BBC One, as if the graphics are created separately for each channel. I thought (at least at TVC) that the astons etc were generated for BBC One with just the ticker overlayed for the channel - although I could be completely wrong!

Yes, I forgot to mention it was only on the News Channel. I presume the ability to have them more separate is now available since the move.

You are completely wrong. Seen the Six on the news channel last week and the dog, clock and ticker had failed, Aston came up as normal but there was no BBC News Strap under it, just blank space. Also you'll notice that the side astons ("Pictures from Sky Sports" etc) are lower on BBC One then they are on the news channel, and that the astons now remain below the signer on the news channel during the One, where before they used to output on the screen beside the signer.
I could be completely wrong abut this but I reckon the same software that allowed BBC News to retain the old look during any similcast with BBC World News between the two moves is in play here.
Dateline playing out now on World. I believe it's shown LIVE earlier in the UK.
Anyway, another case of the crazy cameras. It's like their on sanatogen!
Must say, I love the London skyline depiction on the lower podium on the Dateline set.
I believe. It always used to show on the News Channel at 11.10am, which I presume is live. Not sure if it still does though.
And I honestly say the titles are great. Really good.
Dateline did used to start at :10 past the hour and was a 50 minute (ish) programme with a news & weather summary at :30 but I think it's been 30 mins for a while now. I can still remember when it came from the studio in the Millbank offices, what happened to that set?
Oh yes! I remember that Millbank set too. It had a BBC News style desk which backed onto the newsroom. For Dateline London they would pull round a gauze curtain behind which diffused the backdrop.
Does anyone else remember the Millbank interview position from the early 2000s? It too backed onto the newsroom and featured a green Commons-esque green bench seat. Or at least that's how I remember it - it has been a decade at least since I've seen it. I wonder whatever happened to it?
Like David said, the News 24 version of Dateline London was originally 50 minutes long but for as long as I can remember it was only ever 30 minutes on BBC World. They used to show either the first or last half - I can't remember which now. It was never shown live; it used to be shown later in the afternoon once it had aired on N24 in the morning.
I remember the News 24 DTL position with the green commons style chair at Millbank. Can't remember how long it's been since we last saw that. Also didn't Dateline used to be on a Sunday morning before moving to Saturdays?
Glad I'm not the only one who remembers the Millbank DTL position. It's been a long, long time since I've seen that on News 24. It must be getting on for 10 years.
Yes, I think you're right, David - I've a vague feeling that Dateline London used to air on Sundays originally too. Gavin Esler was still the presenter at that time but I remember Nik Gowing deputising for Gavin when he was away. Those two were the chief newsreaders on News 24 and World at that time weren't they?

Yes Gavin was the main DL presenter back then. He anchored News 24 in the 19:00 to 00:00 slot on weekdays and before that the 16:00 to 19:00 slot. As for the old News 24 Millbank DTL I don't think it's been seen since the 2004 relaunch of BBC News 24.
