WEEEEEE! Ha! Obviously someone didn't direct clear enough, or didn't prep the shot in time. Assuming it should have cut to the other camera (that was a 2 shot), but instead remained on-air and was moving into position for another shot, and in panic, the 2-shot camera operator went for the wrong button, hence going to presenter 1 chair. Ah well! It's what makes live TV fun!

Err beware what you think is obvious.

There are no camera operators in that studio. All of the cameras are on Furio remote track and controlled by the director and the Mosart automation system (and there's no vision mixer/TD either - the vision mixer is Mosart controlled as well)... That's what makes this form of live TV even more fun.

If you're not careful you can let the automation system do things you weren't expecting. Particularly when you've only been on-air in that studio for a week or two.

Yes indeed, this gives you an idea how Mosart works (at another TV station).

Quite interesting viewing.

Yep - Mosart (and also Viz believe it or not) are both projects that originated at that station (TV2 in Bergen)

TV2's News output is a lot simpler though - the BBC deployment of Mosart is definitely the most ambitious in terms of complexity so far I think.

SVT in Sweden introduced Mosart to their output last year, and had a pretty traumatic time, so bad that they suspended its use, and most references to SVT were removed from the Mosart website. However, as an outsider, it looks as if SVT were going from a pretty traditional operation to full-automation, whereas the BBC has been using pretty heavy automation for 15+ years, so Mosart is much less of a shock.

I would take it that there are more than just two staff in the gallery when the news channel is coming from E, compared to just 2 in the TV2 one?

Yep... If you watch TV2's News output, you'll see why they can do it on 2 people...

What the move to NBH has done, in some ways, is return the News Channel staffing to what it was in the News 24 days (before it got a vision mixer and remote camera/lighting operator weekdays)

The News 24/World joint overnight service used to run on a 3 person gallery (director, sound, output producer)

I spy old BBC TVC NEWS on in Dr Who, the presenter is too blurred to recognise.

EDIT: Non real news presenter

"Dr Who Returns"

Yes, and that's interesting. But is this really worth a mention in the headlines plus a full report from Lizo Mazimba each hour? And now an interview with somebody DTL, with full-size Dalek in studio. Oh, you'd like a Dalek in your house, would you? I just don't see how it returning tonight is news. Either their journalistic standards have fallen, or they're in desperate need of a filler. I'm willing to bet the in-studio Dalek at NBH suggests it's not just a slow news day filler. I can't think of another BBC drama that receives this much attention.

It is a little ridiculous. A regular TV series coming back is hardly news, 50th anniversary year or not.

More then likely that was filmed in Cardiff rather then TVC with the 'newsroom' background added.

They're bound to make a huge deal of the 50th anniversary when it actually happens. There have been so many fully-covered stories about Doctor Who now (from David Tennant announcing his departure to Matt Smith being announced as the new Doctor... to David Tennant actually stepping down and Matt Smith actually appearing...) one like this just seemed unnecessary.

Everytime you hear the phrase "as our entertainment correspondent Lizo Mazimba reports" you know it's going to be some very light unnewsworthy filler report.

Like the death of Richard Griffiths?
Some people like the stuff that Lizo covers, others like the stuff that Will Ghumpert covers, such is the way of the world.

He probably only did that because he was in Harry Potter
