Is TVC still being used as a backup if NBH breaks down?

I don't think so, since Television Centre will be closed down on March 31st...
I guess they just have to find a way to fix that problem as soon as possible.

Any updates on the 12 hour strike on Thursday?

Yes, Stage 6 in TVC is being kept 'warm' for the next couple of months in case of a major disaster at BH.
However, the hoardings are going up at the front of the building next week, and only staff who've had an induction will be allowed in.

Thursday at midday will make for some interesting viewing - the start of the 12 hour strike by the NUJ and BECTU. Presumably Joanna and Ben will only present for an hour, then Gavin Grey or whoever will come in. But it'll be interesting watching the newsroom, will we see everyone walking out on screen at the top of the hour?!

Being a BECTU strike, there's bound to be lots and lots of technical problems, bad directing, and basic graphics too.

Highly unlikely you'll see Studio E live at 12:00 if the strike goes ahead. It'll either be a recording or I'd put money on the NC decamping to Studio A or C for the duration of the strike to avoid any showing of the emptier news centre or frantic staff running about behind. I also wouldn't be surprised if N6 somehow made an appearance ala with a different backdrop (as this might be a better option for non experienced staff who may be not used to the new set up).

I can't possibly see them using N6 - why would they? The entire newsroom (which will be low staffed anyway) and operation is running from NBH now, I'm sure it would be more effort to resurrect N6 and get reports and graphics and everything else up and running from TVC again.

I expect there will be a NC/World simulcast from Studio C - with national bulletins from Studio E as normal.

Talking of graphics, I notice that BBC Persia and BBC Arabic are still using the old style graphics. I wonder if they will be moved over to the new style as well?

What about the UK simulcasts on BBC Two between 11 & 12?

Are they still likely to go ahead?

The strike doesn't start till 12.

Wouldn't be surprised to see pre-recorded content in the midday hour to avoid scenes of walking out etc.

Much more likely a simulcast with World from C.

Probably should have a dedicated thread for this. Discussions are overlapping in the World News and domestic threads.

I wonder which backdrop they'll use in C? World's Skyline or NC's Newsroom?
