I thought it was Orla's wink or Matthew Amroliwala's mouth wide open with a camera looking into the monitor?
Nothing beats John Simpson's duck, although the new 'thing' with the countdowns is pointing on the claps.

Wow. I love the countdown! Especially the new holds on WN programmes.
Just thought I'd mention incase anyone didn't know, that David Lowe's BBC News part of the Members Area has updated with a whole new BBC News 2013 section with the new music for tons of stuff.

Anyone know what 'MORE ON THIS' is used for?

Anyone know what 'MORE ON THIS' is used for?
It's the new coming up bed, also used on a graphic sequence pointing to various other BBC platforms and channels for 'more on this story' hence it's title.

Isn't that the one used for the new look trailer for the News Channel?

Just had a listen to the new UK Countdown.
It does seem rather empty without the 'World' stings in it...
Although the kicks seem heavier and deeper on the UK one...

These are looking great. But why are they not named ABCDEF? I've tried to find a reason for A1 A2 etc. so excuse me if I'm missing the obvious.
My guess was that there are two different end shots of Broadcasting House, for daytime and nighttime. The clips are the same throughout the two variations but are shown in a different order.
Seems odd that version 1 don't all end on daytime BH shots and version 2 don't all end on nighttime shots (unless I'm mistaken). Would have led to more variation, instead of having to use A1, A2 or C2 during the day and the other three at night,
I take it the shots featuring Simon, Carrie, Joanna and Sophie Long are staged? I don't remember seeing any reports by them in the field reporting on stories in the areas they feature in the clips. Did they go out and film them covering a 'fake report' as it were for inclusion on the countdown?
Indeed - I wondered exactly the same - in fact, Simon appears to be emulating the shots of Kate Silverton (on the Millennium Bridge in front of Tate Modern) albeit on a different bridge.
Speaking of the countdowns, Will the great almighty paulm upload the BBC NC countdowns?

Something that intruiged me about the countdown was the emailing to "Quickfire":
Then I found out some more about it. Interesting stuff.
