Following the rebrand, it looks like we've seen the end of Film 24, as it's now in the listings as "The Film Review"

And very nice it looks.

Looks great - my caps don't do it justice as it looks a lot more vivid on screen:

nice to see the lights going down at the end of the Film Review too

Am I alone in thinking the backdrop used in Studio C is better than E? The high balcony shot is much less distracting view than that of E.

There is one thing that upsets me...

... robotic cameras.

I really want to become a Camera Operator and this kind of defeats the point of having someone control it.

Oh well there are other programs, lets hope they don't 'Go Robotic'

Finding Newsmoan, sorry Newswatch, amusing this week!

They just showed two clips from Breakfast about the clock, before and after - and the news ticker obscured both so the point of showing the two clips was lost.

Viewers don't like the red, the flickering screens and a woman flicking her hair, it seems.

Messy headlines just now.

The opening titles they play before the Papers review starts are again very messy and music does not suit the visuals at all. I don't understand why can't they just use the old one or the current World titles or just a short sting which would be the best really.

Don't give up just yet - there are one or two camera operators still out there.

The job of "camera operator" doesn't exist anymore. You'll need skills in lighting, sound, camera, and usually editing and directing if you want to get into news camera work. Although even more is self short by the journos now-a-days. Have a look at "technical operator" roles, or try going freelance as soon as you can afford it.

I take the point, and it's a very important one to remember, particularly for those with aspiration to enter the industry. It does of course still happen though - indeed only last night I was purely a camera operator.

A sound* knowledge of the other aspects of production, as you say, along with high quality training and a robust network of contacts are vitally important.

* no pun intended.
