Somebody didn't read the memo about walking in the 'dead zone' during live transmissions, as it might also have included a clause about leaving things next to your desk which may appear in shot. Wink

Whilst the rucksack may be classed as have having an 'almost BBC News red' colour, the half empty green Waitrose carrier bag next to it probably can't be excused in the same way. Laughing

It's amazing what detail you can see on HD broadcasts! Laughing

There is a sign behind the red glass it says please don't stand here don't know if anyone has noticed, regards the titles though I think the short titles you can get away with it, but the long titles are pretty awful and someone at the Beeb should have spotted that at pilot stage but they havent.

Along with the Elstree Triangle, this remains the best thing I have ever learned from TVF and once you know it, you see it on TV so much Smile

When double headed presenters who aren't talking, look at colleague, look at camera, look at script, look at colleague, look at camera, look at script...

I've never found out why it's the Elstree Triangle. Obviously it's to do with Newsroom South East, but is it because they were the regional news visible in London, or were they just unusual in doing it?

Perhaps from the days that BBC Training were based there too?

Going back several pages:
It just occurred to me that the regular lunchtime signed news didn't happen yesterday - presumably they were trying to minimise complications with the move (and treat us to their send-off in full screen). Did it return today, or is it gone for good?

Funnily enough that occurred to me this lunchtime when I forgot to turn over to 1. Yes it was back today, I suspect it was just they didn't want it on the first broadcast.

Wonder where the live signing is done? I assume it's done somewhere in news rather than being sent to Red Bee and back?
The signing is all done at Red Bee's signing studio somewhere in West London (I think it's in one of their Ealing offices now). I've only caught a glimpse of it on air since the move, but I think they're overlaying the graphics at a different stage in the chain now, so it's a bit neater than the bodge job we had before.

Does anybody else see the long gratuitous shots across the newsroom accompanying the opening titles becoming very dull and repetitive very quickly?

Yes, it's on show enough, this is getting repetitive now, and as you say its far too long when accompanied with the long wide shot of the studio that follows.

Not at all, I look forward to seeing it actually. Big fan of the studio and the newsroom setting. I think I spotted George Alagiah during the titles on the NC sometime this week too!

You'll probably find they'll start mixing things up once everything has settled down. The channel still seems to be blighted by technical glitches, I'm guessing these are mostly caused by Mosart, the automation system.

I think as said above, they'll start mixing things up once everythings settled.

Part of the problem with the issue of repetitiveness is because the shots at the TOTH seem to be the exact same everytime, the position and angle etc.

Yesterday when Ben Thompson was in the spare set in the business unit, they used the camera to pan up from the newsroom towards the atrium and it looked fantastic.

So maybe in the future we'll get different shots and angles and speeds of the pans, which could be good.

I can't believe some are complaining its stale already, compared to N6 it's radically more dynamic.

As has been said, once everything's bedded in - they may mix things up a bit.

I do love the new style globe animation behind the split screen.
