Have to wonder, if they will cut their ident in half, and add sweeping shots of the Houses of Commons and Lords?

We've got Sportsday (BBC News) and Sport Today (BBC World News) on at the same time from the same studio in Salford. Looking at the screens in the background on Sportsday, it looks like Sport Today is pre-recorded.

Mind you, there's not normally much live sport at this time of the night anywhere in the world so they can get away with not having the latest score on BBC World News...

Thank goodness somebody answered my question properly! I actually asked that question last night, because I noticed Sport Today on BBC WN started at 18:42 while Sportsday on BBC NC ended at 18:45, but no one gave a proper answer...

But no upgrades on the lower-third animation, and it will still be the same old fade in-fade out. Laughing

Just in case you didn't know, BBC An Là has also adopted the new strap design, with its teal colour at the bottom, and some decent animations for the straps.

BBC Arabic still using their graphics, no changes as of yet

BBC Türkçe using its own variation of the old graphics

BBC Mundo and BBC Russian using the old graphics still

This makes interesting reading (although from 2006)

I didn't know that politicians took so much interest in news presentation. Perhaps when Huw interviewed Jack Straw live in the studio today on the News at 5, he should have done it standing by the plasma screens!

I've noticed the "swoosh" light beam noises in the NC countdown are much quieter in the mix than the WN countdown. I presume this is intentional but I quite like them in the international version...

I dunno, I find them a little too noisy, particuarly in this version,

Compare that with

And am I the only one who thinks the music sounds weird without the World 'Stings' in the tune?

So am I. I only get used to the countdown having the World "stings" in there. Looks a bit strange to me without them, but we get to hear the orchestra more!

BBC News Overnight - 5am hour with headlines, World Business Report and close from Studio C, in HD!

World News looking good in HD!

This video in the video thread gives a good impression of the newsdesk in Studio C. It shows that World's desk is bigger than that in Studio E (as can be seen especially during the double-headed paper review and the closing of the programme towards the end of the video).

I wish David Lowe had given the news channel a little motief theme, like World News has with its siren sounds. It would have separated it a little bit more from domestic news.
Don't know if this was David's idea but 24 did have a rock guitar rift once.

My favourite BBC News 24/Channel titles music ever.

Oh, that was that god-awful temporary News 24 studio that was CSO. I'd forgotten about that short era while the 2003 set was being built.

That's from that weird period where they insisted on retaining News 24 branding on Saturday mornings (when it was still on BBC2 at that point) but clearly had taken the Breakfast format I.e. presenters reading one headline, going into the titles, then saying what was coming up. All internal politics I'm sure, presumably the same reason that right up to the Salford move they didn't change N6's backdrop to a Breakfast-style one at the weekend even though it would presumably have been possible given TC7 could do a newsroom backdrop for the 6!

Thanks for remembering News 24 during that period.... I would ask when did the Breakfast branding took over the Saturday early slot?

I really dislike the extra violin because it makes it even more obvious when they've restarted the bed after each thunderclap.

I've never understood why BBC News do it that way. The bed and thunderclap should be separate with the bed running continuously and only the thunderclap triggered from the vision mixer. SpotOn (the PC-based audio playout device) and the vision mixer can easily be configured to do this.

They did change the backdrop to Breakfast's version post-2009.

The other problem with the new bed is when we cut to the regions for their headlines. It's pretty much impossible to get it in sync so it sounds disjointed.

They just played the new opening music over the old full opening and it looked terrible.
