I recorded the entire time the News Channel was simulcasting on BBC One HD and it's been a joy to watch so far. I'll get some clips on, especially seeing the countdown in HD and Studio C too - there's no looking back to SD any more!

Here's a 1080p version of the One. I'll get up more soon.

Looking at that video above, I think the problem with the titles is the change of angle of the globe with no accompanying sound (Time stamp 1:05) if they had just left the old way in it would have worked just fine.

Marks out of 10??? 9/10 at the moment, it will be a 10/10 if they change the titles sooner rather than later.

Agreed, I do hope they're planning a staggered relaunch of sorts, with new totally revamped graphics in the pipeline for 2015-ish. Their new setup would be perfect for a composited title sequence that blends layers of prerecorded graphical elements, live graphics and studio shots together (something in a similar vein to VTM Nieuws' new intro).

Nothing about recut music or titles in the opening sequence bothers me particularly, but when put together they just don't seem to flow as well as they could. The way they laboriously cut and fade their way from graphics to newsroom to studio to presenter doesn't really do their new digs justice.

Edit: Can I also just say thanks to aconnell and others for all their videos.

I also don't like the way the BBC News box just cuts when they go to the shot of the presenter.

I think it does fade but it goes so quickly it looks very dis-jointed. It needs to animate out somehow, even if it's a longer fade.

The fade between the sweeping shot of the studio to the presenter is the ideal time for the logo to disappear, rather than disappearing beforehand.

Yeah I agree. But if you watch that clip just a few posts above, it disappears very quickly a few seconds before the change of shot which looks very messy to me.

I've noticed quite a good calibre of guests in the first 24 hours...is this the first result of being based right in the centre or London or is there just a general push to get some "names" in because of the relaunch? Or a bit of both, perhaps!

Maybe like the way RT's box logo disappears off screen?

If it could fade along with the transition between the wide shot sweep, and the presenter shot, that would be ideal.

Whoops the robot camera had a bit of a spasm there, to the surprise of Jane.

It just occurred to me that the regular lunchtime signed news didn't happen yesterday - presumably they were trying to minimise complications with the move (and treat us to their send-off in full screen). Did it return today, or is it gone for good?
