Worzel may be trying to convince the thread of the use of fake backdrops, but if he did a tiny bit of research you would realise that that is actually the real background to that studio. It's appeared in a number of pics over the last few weeks including a now removed panorama shot of the studio, as well as the Twitter link in the post above.

No, that's not what I said. I said it looked like Millbank style trick photography. I never said it actually was.

Everything looks great except the choppy titles and music. Pretty sure David Lowe could have done something to make it work if he was given a chance.

Anybody know where World/NC joint bulletins are coming from?

It looks like they've rotated the desk round by 90 degrees for the papers - or is it just me?

Sorry to ask the obvious (I haven't followed the previous NBH thread fully), but that seems like a relatively low number of people to manage such a number of outputs. Nick seemed to talk about them being editors and producers in that main newsroom tour - so where do all the journalists sit? Are they out and about so much they do it all on the hoof? Surely they need more people than those shown in that central newsroom bit?

Editors and producers are journalists.

If you're talking about reporters, I saw one of the behind the scenes reports earlier which interviewed one of the reporters at 'his' desk (it was a hot desk) preparing a story for tomorrow. He was in one of the side offices above/around the aitrium. That's fairly normal - there's no need for a reporter who's not working on 'on the day' to be in the newsroom.

The way the light falls on that pillar behind the papers guests makes it look, to me at least, like it is computer generated. It is clear now that this is not the case. Thanks for explaining that Smile

Not convinced that they're rotated the desk though, isn't it just that they're sitting 90 degrees to Clive's left?

it's either been moved or the panels at the front slide round.

It doesn't look like the same shape from that angle either.

It all looks good and I for one am impressed with the new look.

Titles, camera usage and graphics all very good as is the new weather area and tweak to graphics.

I also like the presenters used today (sorry being sneaky with that).

The usage of coming up at xx:xx graphics is also in to see - something different from recent updates.

The papers review is good - not sure if it is better than Sky News with this though but it is probably too early to judge this really.

Looking forward to seeing Carrie and Simon now.

Good start at NBH - well done Team BBC News keep up the good work! Wink

If its the report Im thinking about its the one with Rory Cellan Jones in which he likens Broadcasting House to a ginormous Call Centre. He didnt seem too enthusiastic about his new workplace complaining about the way he had to eat his lunch at his desk and the fact there were no bins in the Business Department where he was oddly stationed.

This wide shot from the Ten shows the offending pillar. It seems to just be very smooth and cheap-looking, which is why it looks like it's computer generated.

The only other answer is that the panels may be able to slide round.

Draw the two for comparison.

It doesn't look like the same shape from that angle.

The panels on the onld desk used to slide round, so it was a normal desk when they had a guest and had a gap when there was none.

The clock now shows in single digits (hours) overnight.

I.e. 0:01 rather than 00:01.
