Really liking the new look, as a whole. Think it makes it feel more dynamic, clean and modern.

Just a few things though:
I think the name astons for interviewees/correspondents should stay on screen for another second before disappearing. At the moment, I think it goes too quickly. In reality, it's probably the same length as before.
I think the Newsroom sweep and studio pan, though nice, may get tired within a few months to the point where it'd be nice to see the full 15 second titles at some TOTHs, the Newsroom sweep at others.
Not a fan of the fake studio backdrop in studios outside of E, either.

Apart from those things, it's brilliant! Kudos to the teams involved.

Agree with you here, I think it will probably get old quickly, especially as it's such a long pan in a way. It would have been better to integrate the titles into the pan, in a similar way to 2006/7 with the national titles which swirled out into the studio shot. It would look less disjointed I think.

I know they've just moved and much of the set is designed with the current branding in mind, but maybe we'll get a revamp of the current look or a complete rebrand that doesn't jar with the set in a couple of years.

But in terms of the fake backdrop, I thought the 5 looked quite good, because they weren't pretending to be in E, it was a different angle, etc so I don't think it looked too bad

Is this misalignment on the screen a homage to the N6 Barcos?

I hope so - I miss the gaps and delays of good old N6 and TC7.

I'm surprised TV Ark has quickly updated their website to reflect what has happened today, including the 6. It's about time; they haven't updated BBC News' pages in ages.

6: http://www2.tv-ark.org.uk/news/bbcnews/evening.html

We are still awaiting WN which is more than 2 months overdue! And it would also be better if from the main menu they add a separate page to reflect the 2013 package.

Clive on his feet now. They're certainly getting to grips with the stood pres!

It's a bit like celebs still thinking it's trendy to do the Harlem shake - the BBC have come to the party rather late with this one and the novelty of newsreaders standing up has somewhat gone in favour of the novelty of them sat down at a desk. It doesn't help to that the screens in the standing area are so poorly tacked together - you need a nice Newswall to pull it off.

As for this 9pm hour - wouldn't the best solution be to have a special BBC World bulletin (fixed at 9pm UK time, whether it confuses Americans or not) that is simulcast over the hour - essentially World News Today I guess.

Good point, stand up presentation is so middle 00s. Most channels that innovated it have moved on or kept it in very limited amount. I don't see the attraction anymore either which is why I'm glad World is not using it very much. It's enough to have biz presenters stand during updates and presenters of GMT/Impact/Global during opening.

I'm sure they will eventually - TV Ark has never been a live presentation site - it's much more about the retro so I'm sure things will be added in time. It's a site I go to though for gems from the past - if I want captured on new stuff it is sites like The Ident Gallery and TV Live which are usually first port of call.

It isn't the much different to the previous night time N6 backdrop.

Er The National/ NC were doing it over 10 years ago.

which is why I'm glad World is not using it very much. It's enough to have biz presenters stand during updates and presenters of GMT/Impact/Global during opening.

Well if that's true then there is more standing on World as the NC doesn't open standing up or have any regular business updates. Rolling Eyes

Several reports today including he pre recorded weather seem keep being faded out early, even before the report has ended.

Edit, has the ticker been ammended? I'm sure the SPORT bumper was white on yellow earlier - and its now black on yellow?
