Can someone remind me again why they can't use the same studio at 5 as the one at 9, or vice versa?

Because BBC World aren't in Studio C at 5pm but they are at 9pm.

But at the moment it is BBC World News America live from Washington

Presumably they need it available should there be breaking news etc.

It's interesting that during Nick's tour of the newsroom he said that it brings all the various teams together for the first time, TV, Radio, World Service etc.

Sorry to ask the obvious (I haven't followed the previous NBH thread fully), but that seems like a relatively low number of people to manage such a number of outputs. Nick seemed to talk about them being editors and producers in that main newsroom tour - so where do all the journalists sit? Are they out and about so much they do it all on the hoof? Surely they need more people than those shown in that central newsroom bit?

That virtual studio is horrific, especially for in the middle of primetime (though I think news channels tend to rate better during the day).. Can't they just go old-school C5 stylee and wonder around the newsroom for an hour. Isn't there also another studio presumably unused at the time, the one used for BBC London (if they've moved in yet).

That won't be the case in a fortnight when it's Europe's turn to adjust its clock and hence, see studio C busy at the 21.00 hour.

Wow you can't half tell that the studio is virtual! , looks very very horrible . Couldn't they have put a real set in there or let the news channel come from the newsroom Very Happy

Is there no way they could have just given the 10 half an hour to prepare as before to lessen the time spent in another (inferior) studio?
Or is the thinking now there's a bit more flexibility in the setup they may as well decamp for the whole hour?

Directed from London though with all the material played in from C

Clive on his feet now. They're certainly getting to grips with the stood pres!

Don't see the problem with A. And much better to do the whole hour than half. The last arrangement was pretty awful - one presenter disappearing, a very lengthy weather forecast, a short BBC World News simulcast - it was very messy.

I for one am liking this new 9.00 hour. Much better.

Really liking the new look, as a whole. Think it makes it feel more dynamic, clean and modern.

Just a few things though:
I think the name astons for interviewees/correspondents should stay on screen for another second before disappearing. At the moment, I think it goes too quickly. In reality, it's probably the same length as before.
I think the Newsroom sweep and studio pan, though nice, may get tired within a few months to the point where it'd be nice to see the full 15 second titles at some TOTHs, the Newsroom sweep at others.
Not a fan of the fake studio backdrop in studios outside of E, either.

Apart from those things, it's brilliant! Kudos to the teams involved.

There's a slight misalignment on these virtual screens on now - good stuff!

Is this misalignment on the screen a homage to the N6 Barcos?
