It's interesting that during Nick's tour of the newsroom he said that it brings all the various teams together for the first time, TV, Radio, World Service etc. However it doesn't house the team behind the BBC's News Radio station as 5 Live comes from Salford. So that statement isn't strictly true.

All the London based ones I assume he means.

Of course 5 Live isn't the only part of BBC News not in London - there's 'teams' in Southampton, New York, Belfast etc.

I THINK when he says 'World Service' he actually means 'World News'.

No, he'll mean World Service. It's not much of a claim to say that World News are there when they've always shared a home with the domestic TV news

Lets just hope the robotic cameras don't have a wobbly and do this...

Certainly for me as a viewer, the open plan newsroom looks great. It's a lot more grand with the sweeping shot over the newsroom.

I don't know what the staff feel though, perhaps it's less newsroom and a bit more goldfish bowl?

It's day one, but as time goes on will we see an attack of the junk on desk, to make it more news-y? Very Happy

Right, studio A up next.

Doesn't look too bad so far, but you can tell its fake.

Could be worse, I suppose.

It appears the reflection on the desk is fixed, at least compared to the Newswatch set.

Can someone remind me again why they can't use the same studio at 5 as the one at 9, or vice versa?

Because BBC World aren't in Studio C at 5pm but they are at 9pm.

10 is rehearsing in E - the usual studio. Unlike at 17:00, World is in C (IIRC, Focus on Africa is in B at 17:00). Thus, we have the 'glory' of A.

EDIT: beaten to it!
