And from 13:30 onwards, the news channel is coming from Studio C - I wonder if the problems with the sports bulletin at around 12:35 were as a result of issues with the gallery for Studio E, or if there is another reason for the change of studio?

It certainly looked like the kind of issue that could only really be the result of a mishap in Studio E's gallery

On the return to the news channel after 17:30 the newsroom camera zoomed.

We had a static shot one the Six.

So just a static shot from trundle cam at 6. Couldn't they have just used a recorded pan as used for Studio C?

Because the on the Five, the shot is pre-recorded.

Indeed, either that or the same two people walk up the stairs with one on their mobile phone at the same time everyday Wink

So from the tweet provided above, it would appear that the trundle cam caused the breakdown at around 12:42 that I provided a video of. Funny how that could cause that to happen. One thing I did notice though, in that video when it cuts back to Studio E, you can still see the Salford output on the bank of 9 monitors over Julians right shoulder. The Lewis Hamilton report played out in full, with Lewis invision, then you could see the Salford presenter in the sports studio, then you could see a snooker table while Ronnie O'Sullivans story was playing out.

Don't say that too loudly or there'll be a story in the Mail about how the BBC is paying actors to walk up and down the stairs for the TOTH sequences.

Depends what's broken - I doubt a problem with the actual camera could cause problems with the gallery, but gallery problems could easily cause the camera automation to break / become unavailable.

Sounds like a good old bit of percussive maintenance is in order Smile

I suppose it's the type of thing that can only really be fixed overnight, when studio E and the newsroom camera aren't in use.

MediaBoy may even have his socket set out now. Wink

Would this explain why on Wednesday at Thursday we couldn't see the presenter with their back to the newsroom from the Media Café?

It could be one of those situations where something done to fix/work around one problem causes something else to go pear shaped, eg the automation might have crashed/become unstable while the director was trying to modify the opening sequence to work around trundlecam's absence.
