Again, Millbank doesn't have the gear required to 'rolling' news. Or the staff to do it. At 10pm there's almost no one there. You can't just magic people up.
It sounds like a solution might have been to present coverage of the Commons vote from MB1 and stay there on the NC while Studio E did the Ten.
Expensive though, having to staff Millbank.

Really this is an entirely unlikely scenario to happen again in the next couple of months as in a couple of months BBC London will move to Studio D meaning that at no time in the day will all 5 Studios be in use, when it will be a similar set up to TVC where they would go to N9 for a situation like this. There are several solutions to this though BBC London could come from the MPA as it doesn't need rolling news capability and NC could move to Studio A or something that has been completely overlooked is the BBC Arabic Studios - they have at least 2 studios and another Presentation Area, I'm not sure if they all use on Gallery but I'm assuming there is at least 2 as BBC Turkish Economy used to come from one of the Studios. NC could decamp from here as it does have Rolling News Capability.

In this case the requirement was for something very basic, take the Commons feed and add some commentary and a few Aston's. A regional bulletin control room could do that surely? it wasn't even breaking news as such, an expected planned Commons vote so plans could have been put in place for staff to be available.
I'm surprised that you say Millbank isn't equipped for rolling news when it's the backup location that would sustain the News Channel and World in the event of major issues at NBH.

Shhh it makes a change from constant tedious updates about the cameras.

Sorry to weigh in late on the debate over Thursday's coverage, if I'm not mistaken it has been mentioned before that Studio's A and E are on completely different floors so whoever does the BBC News at Nine on the NC has to then move across NBH to E to pick it up again at 10:30 after the News at 10, so it would seem impossible to keep them in A or another studio to cover any breaking news in reality, unless you switched to the presenter on location (as there was on in this case) to deliver the breaking news. Also C isn't being used as at 10pm UKT WN is showing World News America from Washington so you would have a studio available and I assume the Newsday presenter for the evening could be used if there a gallery to feed it to if necessary. This was the case during the Boston Bombings when Babita Sharma started earlier in C, and was joined by Clive Myrie, albeit for a WN/NC simulcast but in theory the same logic could be used if a similar situation arose.

Robert Peston's piece on the return of the TSB brand included an old advert, complete with TV Ark DOG! Slightly cheeky

I dislike the way news broadcasters tend to use bad quality clips from YouTube rather than getting actual broadcast footage. They even sometimes do it to illustrate something on their own channel.
Some clips of Corrie used in the Michael LeVell story have been poor quality, it isn't as if sourcing clips of him in Coronation Street is the hardest thing to do.

Agree, dislike it when YouTube videos of recent TV that you would have thought could easily be sourced in broadcast quality are used. I guess it can be forgiven with archive adverts, but even clips of archive BBC shows seem to be rips from YouTube.

It does highlight the danger of CWilliams1976 style mocks presented as genuine, bound to catch some journo or researcher out at some stage
