Does anyone happen to know if the idea of opening the Media Café (which I gather is pretty big and overhangs the newsroom) up to the public is still going ahead? It always seemed a bit unlikely to me that you'd be able to just walk in off the street and buy a coffee, but that's kind of what they kept implying when they were originally talking about it...

I don't see how that's at all possible considering the configuration of the rest of the set. Viewers will just have to get used to tighter camerawork, as they did when Breakfast moved to their Salford set. I like it, much more personable and intimate.
It could be an illusion, but the desk looks smaller even than the one in the sport studio. I just can't see how they'll comfortably sit Gavin + four guests around it for Dateline.
Like the promo for the papers with Clive "or" Martine. Though I don't recall there being promos between the News at One and 13:30 NC before. Guessing that'll be a one off, in case of breaking news?
And as previously suspected, the two co-presenters do look uncomfortably close to each other. I wonder how long it'll be before they replace the desk.

Is that not the point of standing in front of a screen? I'd have thought the huge wide shot of the studio as they throw to the newswall provides more than enough context.
I'm sorry but to my eyes both the newswall shots have looked like the presenter is standing in a VR studio. It looks too flat. The need to loosen the shots to give more contextual studio background.
