Some great new shots of the studio at the TOTH being used. I'm away from a computer so can't catch the 3 o'clock on iPlayer restart I'm afraid but there was also a good one on this afternoon's one o'clock news.

I caught the one at 3pm, and it's basically the camera starting behind one of the screens and then moving out so you can actually see the set. This was presumably something we'd of seen a lot more if the Smart glass was still in use, as without it you just see a grey behind of a TV and then suddenly set.

EDIT: Also looked at the 2pm on iPlayer and it was just a very slow move from a more side-on angle to the desk than normal.

Think you'll find the 1500 cam shot was a mistake.

Apart from that hour, all the others have been exactly the same as normal.

No variations at all? Perhaps a dead center shot pushing between two cameras like on WN?

There was certainly a slightly different angle on the 1.

I don't think you guys fully understand how Mosart works. It tells the camera system to carry out a set cycle of shots and moves, depending on the template chosen. The News Channel only has a few templates, one for a single headed programme, one for a double header with both at the desk, and one for a double header with one at the desk and one at the wall.

That's it. There is almost no ability to do manual cam moves, esp on the heads opener, which is fully automated.

Anything else is generally an error because the cams haven't been sent to their starting positions on time.

The 2pm and 4pm TOTHs have had a lot slower camera movements than normal, though. If you compare it to the first day, it is different.

Well we hope for more errors like that then Wink and less of the one that look like someone has accidently leaned on some sort of button/accidently hit the wrong thing.

I'd expect it to considering it is being contsantly used with only a break from 12:30? to 08:30 most days

Bit of an issue at the 18:15 opt back to E. Sian was still seated whereas, we went to a shot of the empty video wall instead.

So you are saying that it is impossible to add a new template? At no point did I say they were manual cam moves. I just said they were different. More than likely, yes, it was a mistake, but I highly doubt Mosart is as inflexible as you suggest.

Doesn't the One have an extra bod in the gallery to do vision and cameras compared to a regular hour of the NC, or is it just the Six and Ten that get that luxury?

You know the cameras tracks and the wheels on the cams? They wear out, and need replacing rather often. The slow moves were because the wheels can't grip properly.

Oh Chris, come on. You should know better.

Mosart is just a control surface, essentially. It is designed to do whatever you tell it to. The way it is set up in NBH is to run off pre-made templates within ENPS. Those templates aren't changed willy nilly by an adventurous director. You stick to what you know (and hope) will work, and keep your fingers crossed. Staying on air is enough of a challenge, and messing about with the minutiae of camera moves just isn't a priority in a standard News Channel Hour.

And it wouldn't just be as simple as telling Mosart to make the cam slow. It doesn't work like that. All Mosart does is tell the camera system (Furio) to fire a command, so that command needs to be programmed into the camera, and that is a big deal. Really, you need to understand quite how complex all this stuff is.

Yes, you can do things "off template" so to speak, but not in the openers, and at some point you need to get back onto the running order.

Chris didn't say that the director changed it he said it wouldn't be impossible to add a new template if they wanted.
