I wonder if that has anything to do with using old technology that had been soldiering on for years in TVC, compared to cutting edge technology, being pushed to its limits, while it's still bedding in in NBH.

How do you know? Many of those that I've seen could be put down to unforeseen bugs in the automation programming / set up, or the systems getting tangled up.

Remember they're operating on fewer staff, with completely different systems than those that they are used to, it's only natural that people will make mistakes until they're used to the systems, and that's even when those systems are operating at 100%, which they're clearly not at the moment.

This is a bit like what Bob Monkhouse talked about when they moved The Golden Shot from the tatty old Alpha Studios in Birmingham to the new ATV studios. The Alpha Studios were a right mess and everything was held together with sellotape and the new studios were state of the art, but Bob said technically the shows got worse because nobody knew how to operate the new equipment, and cameramen would forget where they were and accidentally pull the plugs out, and they'd forget the equipment was more powerful and constantly blow things up, and this carried on for ages.

I mean things like the theme tunes that sometimes break down and the camera railway thing that go's for a walk about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHlVtt7yON0, and they are controlled by PEOPLE in the Gallery!

They're not, they're controlled by the automation.

As dosxuk said, people don't actually operate the equipment as you think, there are no cameramen or people pressing play on vtrs anymore. Computers (automation) are preprogrammed with the routine of the programme, each item lined up after each other from the headlines, titles, name straps, music, and vts, the gallery is simply pressing a button for the next stage, if a button is pressed to early you get the results shown. Or if something is put in the wrong box in the wrong order, on a system you've only just been taught with a lifetime doing it a different way.

Its on the ticker is that not enough?

Besides... its Lazy journalism to just air a news conference verbatim, and they are usually boring as hell and just repeat the same old crap. Journalists should just report the important bits and include relevant soundbites in their packages after the fact.

This Simulcast of WHYS is brilliant, they should do it every week. (although probably should replace Ros Atkins)
