That's because it's not a BBC camera, Simon explained it's a Royal one

Forget the Queen, the big news is that Simon McCoy has handed over to a Weather forecast from Tomaz Schaff without incident.

That's just brilliant!

See - this is how the handover to the weather should be done! Wink

Thanks Queen! This is the best tour of NBH we've had on screen!

Wouldn't have been able to do that live shot with a set of Barcos behind the presenters Wink

Were they using the newsroom camera to provide those nice sweeping shots from upper levels down to the newsroom? If so, they were really very nice - that camera came in very useful today! Also interesting that they kept Simon McCoy on to commentate on this, rather than the on-duty presenters. Also, I notice they've changed the screens above Studio E to show parts of the BBC News globe, which is quite nice.

Did the shot of the Queen behind Studio E actually happen live on air? Did they just turn round and she was there?

Cameras are having another spaz during the one today.

Cameras cut to John in the middle of a report before zooming straight out. And there are cameras travelling past the background of the reporter in the guests seat.

Will this never end?!

No, the studio was off air as Simon and Lizo were commentating from the balcony overlooking the News room. They handed back to the studio when the Queen started walking towards it.
A video of what went out on air (minus the usual ticker and clock) can be seen here.

Breaks so many of the BBC's own newsroom rules though. I'm telling the Daily Mail! Laughing

Well, I dunno about that. Some of the commenters appear to have taken a day off Wink
