It does make me laugh on here how, if certain FM's disagree with another forum member you end up with obnoxious posts. Being civil and putting a reasoned reply doesn't cost anything.

How was I being obnoxious, I didn't even say anything about you being a pedantic deluded manchild?

Oddly enough Studio K has been used today for a Hugh Pym report.

That's a pretty nasty colour hue on the right side of the female guests face on the close up. Must be mixed lighting incoming from the newsroom outside.

Out of interest would it cost a lot to change the lighting in Studio E so it could in theory support multiple colours like Studio C? I personally like it as it is and perfect for a rolling news channel and they can use any of the other studios providing World arent in there.

I suppose the only problem with changing colours is the fact the background is real. The rest of it I suppose can be changed as easily as it can in C.

I suppose a green cyc could be pulled around inside the window if they really wanted to put something else there, but I don't really see the point

Between 1115 and 1120 on weekdays, there is a sports bulletin. Does anyone know why they have this one one, as well as being one at the BOTH? (Domestic news channel).

If you look at this photo of studio E, you can see the red lightboxes are a brown/red colour when not lit up. An equivalent photo of C (which I can't find right now) shows they are white.

As I said earlier, I presume this is done because of the studio opening out into the newsroom and the issues that lots of sunlight would cause - primarily washing out any colour changing lights behind the panels. By using red perspex with a white backlight the colour can't be washed out, plus you get brighter white fixtures than coloured ones.

To answer Harshy's question about how much it would cost to change - probably lots. To the point it becomes easier / cheaper to use the VR studio.

Or... Studio E's lighting can be changed like the new Wales Today studio which also has the brown coverings.

As seen in the vid below at 1:15...

The suggestion that the lightboxes in Studio E are stuck on Red/White is ludicrous. It makes no sense whatsoever not to have the ability to change the colour of the lightboxes, as the various camera/lighting teams would need to be able to adjust these things anyway.

The studio versatility does appear to be there, but for whatever reason the BBC have decided not to make use of it.

It may be possible - but even if they did change the colour of the set, the newsroom in the background is still going to be very very red.
