I don't think it's the sets that are a problem, more the dull images on the screens.

Hopefully we'll be allowed something like North West Tonight, in terms of it being a Birmingham view mixed in with a newsroom.

Do we reckon it'll be a sofa or desk?

Desk, I know that much, with another desk coming for LKO and there's Sunday Politics screens included too...

Surprised they're getting more than one desk, other regions don't seem to bother to change it as far as I know.

Late Kick Off is definitely returning under the new deal with the Football League then?

Got to love this comment from someone on the video on Facebook Mike sent us the link to.

How much is that costing US then?

Presumably that person would still have something like this as the main set.

I live in hope that all remaining regions/sub-regions that currently *still* have set elements that are distinctly "pre-2008" looking (e.g. wood laminate flooring, etc), might now be aiming to *finally* drag themselves up-to-date in time for the BH move, with sets that actually bear some half-decent degree of resemblance to the current prescribed look. (I’m looking at you, BBC Oxford News! Rolling Eyes )

The Jubilee weekend will presumably provide a few consective days of no Oxford bulletins, so at least a "re-paint" of the current set can be achieved, if nothing more. Mind you, I've thought that on the last umpteen occasions that there was any kind of Bank Holiday weekend, and yet no noteworthy changes to the Oxford set have yet materialised, so I'll not hold my breath...

(EDIT: Wrong emoticon and grammar fail corrected!)

Would they not be as well to be focussing sets on the BH design than attempting to match the 2008 standards?

I certainly agree in *principle*, but it seems most practical that the " N6/TC7-esque" style (i.e. rectangular layout, etc) should remain the "official" prescribed look for regional news, regardless of the forthcoming BH style for NC & Nationals.

As some regions have only had their "2008-style" sets for a relatively short while (i.e. introduced well after the actual 2008 revamp) it would be hard to justify yet another totally new set so soon. Also, many regions' studios are too small to be able to afford the wasted space that would be caused by having a curved/circular set layout within a square/rectangular studio.

That said, the current NWT set is a good compromise - the walls may still be in the "old style" rectangular layout, but the circular platform and curved sofa is a nice nod towards the BH circular layout.

Maybe NWT is indicative of a possible minor refresh across all regions that already have a 2008-style set? (I.e. replace their rectangular platform (or quasi-platform paint job!) with a circular version, and possibly a more circular/curved furniture arrangement thereupon).

Perhaps MT’s new set will have a circular element in the floor design?

MT are getting the same type of set as everybody else!

Except the North West.

. . . and South West.

And the East Midlands. And Oxford. And the Channel Islands. And Scotland. And Northern Ireland!

I wonder how many people think that's a pixelated video image behind the presenters thanks to the presence of the Cube in the background?
