Bit of classic 2003 Midlands Today on this week's 'The Routemasters' on BBC Two, was strange seeing the analogue Pebble Mill output upscaled to HD 16:9..
and with Suzanne Virdee.
Oh yes! Both Nick Owen and Suzanne looking a lot younger!
Tonight's show coming in part at least from the Birmingham Queensway tunnels, that have shut for 6 weeks for refurbishment.
(And a quick reminder that BBC WM are having travel bulletins every 15 mins all through the day. Presumbly nothing extra after 7pm, as it will be difficult opting out of 'BBC Radio Leeds In The Evening' cleanly!)
Lenny Henry ' New Faces' clip courtesy of 'Associated Television'.
While that may be historically correct, surely vintage ITV in house stuff should be credited as 'ITV Studios' these days?
Hmmm..
ITN Source is the usual credit when ITV footage is shown by another broadcaster.
However, was this the first New Faces appearance of Lenny? In which case to further muddy the waters, that came from (and via because the original had been junked by ATV/Central and presume lost) the Bob Monkhouse collection, which is now kept and administered by the Kaleidoscope organization.
So, they should have got a credit as well - so it should have been (if you wanted to be really picky) ..
'New Faces.
ATV/ITN Source/The Bob Monkhouse Collection'
But no doubt the work experience kid on graphics wouldn't have known the full story to credit it properly...
Was in the Midlands last week and spotted Midlands Today is now single-headed. Seemed like a much better programme to me with fewer awkward links. Coloured titles like London and a new headline bed (which sounded like the 2008 quarter heads bed) which I don't think quite works.
EDIT: Just spotted this is in the Midlands and Central mega-thread. To many things are lost in this forum due to threads like that.
The 'new' bed is indeed the network 'Coming Up' bed from 2008's package. Random choice.
Looks like there's been some set backing and lighting tweaks too. Not an avid viewer so these could have been in use for ages. Clever how Jim Mann has worked in some more realistic 'Mailbox' office space for the left side. Also white light box is now red to the left of the weather screen.
I think the problem for the colour titles is that the ring overlay is plain white, it needs to have a gradient or a glass like effect added. Either that or they all adopt the NWT design.

Can I just ask are the titles that NWT use self created? I.E. Made in Salford or made in London as they are out of the two sets since 2008 the better one in my opinion?

I think they were created in-house. They're of a very similar style to the Christmas titles NWT had in 2010 which I doubt London would have created.
