This is much much better, I love it, its even better than the national news studio, which you cant say that very often. It looks as if the BBC have finally opened their eyes. The Colors are clearer and more appropriate.

So is BBC Midlands set the first you've designed, or have you done others too? Laughing

It's a great regional set, but it's still a regional set.

It's is great as a regional set and I think probably the best regional set now. The nationals are better because of space but in terms of quality they are looking very tired and Midlands Today has an edge.

Bit off topic no? Anyways it seems you 'ain't there' at the moment. However, seeing as you have joined BT, get yourself one of these:

They will help you with all your problems - and make you sing like The Zombies.

I was at a friend's house tonight watching Midlands Today and they pointed out what I thought - Nick Owen looks like a little child at that desk.

Well they can't win then, because he apparently looked like a little child at the last desk. Maybe it's just Nick?

Nick Owen never really looks comfortable on the wide shots.

No I still think North West Tonight's set and backdrop is better, but shame they don't have a desk any more.

Indeed. I think this probably one of the worst, but it's all a matter of opinion. The lightboxes can look good, and the example used in this thread is an unfair representation. That said, I would argue even BBC London's set is better than this.

And whilst I agree that NWT's is also better, I think it's an unfair comparison, considering that set is also used for a national programme also.

If you think North West Tonight has got this beaten you need a slap; North West Tonight can't even manage a decent single shot with two presenters in their red hell, and they have a sofa - Midlands Today can. They also don't look squashed against the plasmas either like their Northern neighbours do...

Which is better? No comparison, Midlands Today.

I'd argue if we were solely looking at space available, sure NWT win that - but for use of space and design/keeping in with the future network look MTD have taken it. Oh, and what's to say those plasmas are only temporary...

I'll let off the bad quality of the image here but the fact the lighting grid is so LOW (yes, the mailbox has similar issues) adds to the claustrophobia of the North West Tonight nightclub/modern bar like lighting flood. It's not nice, even for a Network Programme though I do like the Tefal frying pan and the desk/sofa NWT have

Sarah Falkland is a much better presenter than Mary Rhodes.

Sunday Politics still seems to come from the canal side studio, and I think if I'm honest that probably the best place for it.
