BBC Look North (North East & Cumbria)

Apologies if there is a thread for the programme, please merge this post if that’s the case.

If am right in saying all the other regional outlets have updated studios since BBC News moved to New Broadcasting House, but not Look North in the North East and Cumbria.

In all fairness, the consistency of things would be in the best interests as Look North must be the only regional programme with the old set.

Nope, you wouldn't be right. Off the top of my head, Look East (both East and West), the other two Look Norths, Points West, South Today (Southampton and Oxford) all still use sets based on the old N6/TC7 design.

I believe out of all of these, Points West has the oldest set out of all of them coming up to nine years old and not even a tweak in sight in all this time. Even their long serving face Chris Vacher spent 2 years in the current set and he retired nearly 7 years ago now.

In this time it's ITV rivals has undergone four major/minor set revamps (I'm including the minor change of name from The West Tonight to The West Country Tonight as a change).

Actually Points West has the newest of the 2008-2013 era regional sets still remaining (excluding Salford) but all are looking pretty tired these days.

Look North (East Yorks/Lincs) - April 2009
Look East - December 2009
Look North (NE) - January 2010
South Today - April 2010
Look North (Yorkshire) - November 2010
Points West - December 2010

Oxford’s set went in in mid April 2014.

I actually think the 2008-2013 style sets look better than the newer ones. Maybe its just me, but I like the old ring textures alot.
