I'd have thought that if any region goes HD, BBC London will be the first purely because they'll soon be more integrated in with national news in their new home

But North West Tonight are moving into (presumably HD ready) new premises in a couple of weeks. Perhaps they would be the first..

Yes, but the Beeb do odd things sometimes. I'm told although the studios at Glasgow's Pacific Quay are HD equipped, the Pres/Tx area is currently only SD ?

By the way, Meridian's base near Fareham has had an HD facility provided in an adjacent building. It goes live this month I'm told, though only transmitting in SD for the time being. That surprised me, given ITV's perceived 'winding down' of regional news activity !

I believe there's an HD upgrade project underway in the BBC nations for BBC One, and room being made for them on DSat. Given their existing studio facilities, it wouldn't surprise me if Reporting Scotland was the first region to go HD.

BBC London will have to wait until they've moved to the new part of BH - and that's if those in charge decide that it ought to go out on the main "BBC One HD" channel, rather than the current 'programmes resume shortly' slide or trails.

But there's no 'BBC One North West HD', whereas it would be easy just for BBC One HD to carry BBC London news

But then, there's no 'BBC One London HD' either.

Why assume that BBC One HD has to carry BBC London News? Couldn't it carry an HD version of North West Tonight to benefit NW viewers until separate HD regional versions of BBC One HD are available? Just because it's London shouldn't mean that it gets first dibs - especially now that the NW is becoming more prominent nationally.

It should be noted that BBC 1 HD does indeed select a random BBC region (not necessarily London) for Inside Out, when it's running ?

Noticed a glitch on the Breakfast opts this week, this was watching on Sky,there was no on screen clock and on both Monday and yesterday at the end of the opt the picture seemed to jump backwards and replay the last second or so before cutting back to the breakfast studio.

As I reported in another thread, BBC 1 analogue in London, is running a second behind BBC 1 analogue in the BBC South region, and presumably the rest the rest of the England ? (that is still analogue). BBC 2 is in step.

I suspect this may have something to do with the way the London news is opted, (perhaps to bring analogue in step with digital) but why I don't know ? It's all rather odd.

The Breakfast opts are just done by TC7 cutting up the studio at Egton aren't they?
