I think it was wrong to allow the previous BBC London look to spred to the regions, I would of much prefer the 2002 Music for the regions, or tweaked versions of it..
Although the London music and its variants are among the best from the BBC set, I do hope that the other regions arent tempted to follow BBC London once again.

You have to remember the old BBC London theme wasn't just created by David Lowe ... it used the 'radio' logo that BBC London had been using for a while before that was created by Vibe/Music4 and had a "BBC News" bit added to it at the beginning. The radio one did the same.
If i was a new viewer to BBC LONDON and the first thing i saw was the new titles i would think that the programme is cheap with very little news impact. This would result in me thinking that London Tonight was the high quality regional news programme for the region, as their music has far more authority.
Only for the thought to be destroyed a few seconds in with the impending announcement of the model visiting the studio tonight and the details of tonight's phone in, and coming up later: what's on in the west end and the weather from Chrissie. But first, Kate Moss has been seen doing so and so etc etc etc.

Sorry i should have clarrified it a bit clearer. i was talking about the opening title sequence alone. London Tonight's title sequence seems alot more proffessional than BBC London's. The music also has far more authority. I was not talking about the content of the actual programme.

Yeah, I know, the point I'm trying to make is that any authority gained by the opening titles is soon lost!
Speaking of opening titles, there were none at all during today's lunchtime bulletin, nor was there a headline bed, or indeed any headlines at all.
The new look of the programme, the opening titles, the removal of a headline intro, the screen animation, the horrific shade of red... it's all very regressive. I can't see how any of this was thought to be an improvement on the previous package. I believe this is also the first presentation update since it was announced that all news pres would be updated for compatibility with N24. I've seen no evidence of this with large chunks of full-screen graphics being in the N24 'danger zone' occupied by the Tower, three-line supers and ticker.
So proud of their new look, they've just opened their 1.30 bulletin with the presenter saying hello and moving on to the first story...
There were no headlines on the main programme last night at 6.30, so they must have been done away with, although to be honest the last headline bed introduced when LDN became LONDON was crap compared to the first two anyway.
Talking of being embarrassed, the bulletin at 10.25 last night had no opening titles; a short sting of the new music was played over a still of the ten o clock news logo.
Lunchtime today as has been said there were no titles; headlines have not been part of the lunchtime programme for quite a while. The end was awful too. Another short remix of the sting and a fade to a new screen at the end, bright red with a stretched BBC LONDON on it with the old tagline of ON TV, ON RADIO, ONLINE underneath. P1ss poor and a giant leap backwards.
Opening titles for the 3.20 update! A bright red screen with BBC LONDON on it shrinks and underneath the words ON TV ON RADIO ONLINE sort of unfold/scroll across the bottom.
At the end it zoomed back into the screen and then stopped. Both used the shortened sting of the new music.
