We'll see Chris Rogers as he is also freelance.

Though surely he could also refuse a shift in sympathy if he feels his strongly enough on the issue? (or any other freelancer for that matter)

Simon McCoy, Gavin Grey and Chris Rogers are non-union presenters which is why they are frequently seen on strike days, it's actually nothing to do with them being freelance.

The lineup in the past (recently) has always been

Breakfast - Gavin Grey
1 - Gavin Grey (Emma Crosby did it once as well - but that was Pre Five News)
6 - Chris Rogers
10 - Chris Rogers

Simon won't read the main bulletins as he 'works to rule' on strike days, and I assume Charlie Stayt does as well.

In the first strike (around 2003/4) it was
Breakfast - Aktor Kahn
1 - Susan Osman
6 - Stephen Cole (I think)
10 - Stephen Cole

It could be that they're union members, but not BBC staff - in which case, it's not their dispute, and they'd have no reason to go on strike.

I'm speculating here, but I suspect you are too.

It's February half term next week, so lots of 2nd division presenters are likely to be scheduled anyway.

It depends how severe the strike is. There have been many levels of severity, sometimes World might do their own thing, particularly at the times of the Six & Ten where the BBC would want to avoid the generic intros and 'you could get a bus through there' opt out points.

The worst probably that time Akhtar Khan did BBC News from 1am to 10am as a joint service across all platforms, including Breakfast. They tend to always prioritise BBC1 bulletins even if this means a show called 'Breakfast' airing on BBC World in the middle of the day.

Second division presenters??? LOL. Nice of you to say so. I'd probably be in the Vauxhall Conference League of presenters if I were one.

Poor folks!

Still no indication of who's presenting tomorrow's Breakfast or whether it will come from Salford? Bill & Susanna are scheduled to present which means Charlie Stayt won't be on tomorrow. I can't imagine Gavin Grey will go up to Salford for Breakfast, perhaps they will use a member of the North West team?

Remember that it's only an NUJ strike, so the big difference compared with previous industrial action is that the crews and technical operators won't be striking.

What are the chances of Newsnight being cancelled? As far as I can remember, it's usually cancelled sometime during the day of the strike.

The last few have only been journalists, too. The last strike I can remember with the technical crew involved too was back in 2005.

I would expect Breakfast to definitely come from Salford - and I don't see why Gavin Grey wouldn't present it from there either. Though it won't be him presenting if he's on the News Channel late shift tonight! If it's not Gavin I can see it being Roger Johnson or even someone like Fiona Armstrong.
