In summary, I think we can say that this has been the most successful Trade Union action at the Corporation for many years, for Breakfast and Today both to go off air is exceptional, and the reduction of the NC to first half hour, every hour rare. Taking two 6 music shows off with sympathetic presenters must be a bonus too.
Seemingly Five Live escaped relatively unscathed which is surprising though.

From memory though wasn't it pretty much the same story last time (except for 6Music). I certainly remember Breakfast and the News Channel being just half-hour bulletins on the hour on the whole for the last couple of strikes.
It's a wonder though considering the BBC News/World simulcasts that they don't do a Radio 4/5Live simulcast for the breakfast show.
BTW, I assume 5 Live Sport has been able to provide commentary of Man Utd v Reading tonight.
I agree with DVB Cornwall on this - it's certainly been the most problematic strike for a while. They cancelled Breakfast, which they rarely do, and I think there's usually more content in the back half-hours than we've seen today, which was the same edition of HARDtalk whenever I checked.
Has it been mentioned who presented North West Tonight?
Was there any regional weather anywhere, or was the lack of weather on Look North due to the scheduled forecaster also being a newsreader and therefore likely a member of the union, either that or weather presenters reluctant to cross picket lines as they've recently faced their own redundancies when creating the regional hubs.
Managing Editor of BBC Radio Manchester Kate Squire.
It appears to be the 11pm bulletin on the News Channel.
Something weird happened on World just there. It had the Cameron piece with Chris Rogers speaking but the word 'FREEZE' appeared in the middle of the screen and then he started repeating the exact same thing...
Because you have not been balloted in this dispute we cannot ask you to take industrial action and you should work normally and refuse to cover any work that would normally be carried out by an NUJ member working to rule or taking strike action. If however as a matter of conscience you decide not to cross a picket line and your employer attempts to discipline you then you will have the full support of BECTU.
Thanks for that. So it isn't allowed but in the unlikely event you got disciplined BECTU will help you with your case

No word Freeze on the NC, but the same fault happened.
