The most recent Wales thread has been archived, so I've started a new one. Probably won't last long, but there you go!

Jonathan Hill and Andrea Benfield are presenting Wales Tonight live from the Royal Welsh Showground in Llanelwedd tonight - it's usually BBC Wales who do to these sorts of OBs these days. I think they're in the ITV Wales building at the showground, though I may be wrong.

BBC Wales are reporting from the showground every day, complementing their usual series of programmes at 7:30 each night. ITV Wales only have an hour at 10:35 on Thursday to cover the Show, so the news coverage today is obviously an extra effort to compensate now that we don't have programmes such as "Grass Roots".

This evening's BBC Wales Today bulletin was shown on BBC ONE Wales cropped to 4:3. Does anyone know why this might have happened? The continuity after it appeared to be 16:9 as normal.

Wrong AFD value punched into the automation system ?
I saw Breakfast with Frost go out in 4:3 a few years ago, presumably the same problem.

I think you will find that at 18.01 BBC One Wales Analogue Terrestrial services are currently broadcasting full frame not widescreen, must be a playout error

I've lost you there, sorry - BBC Two Wales is 4:3 full frame on analogue because it's sport. I'm receiving an analogue signal from Llanddona and BBC One Wales is 14:9 within a 4:3 frame as normal now, and DSat is 16:9 as normal too. The problem I mentioned only occurred for the duration of the news bulletin itself, and affected both analogue and DSat (don't know about DTT).

My TV doesn't switch aspect ratios automatically from an HDMI source (my Sky box), but what Markymark said about a wrong AFD code sounds about right (thanks for that).
