You can't blame Dimbleby for the vast amount of feeds with long delays, the constant sound problems, people being faded up too late, and the other technical problems that have occurred.

ITV seems a lot more polished overall from what I've seen, but every time I look over, it's on the Exit Poll - so I have to look back to the BBC to glance at the seats.

What slowed the pace right down for me was the overly-complex VR and AR. Why did the exit poll need to be shown as holograms of just two of the party leaders? It should have been a simple slide to get the information across as quickly as possible. Mix that with the utterly pointless courtyard map - which Jeremy Vine could have presented a virtual version of - and you end up with a programme that just seems sluggish. It's a shame, because it's such an interesting result.

Perhaps its just that the 'key' results are not in yet but it feels like there have been hardly any live declarations aired. It just seems like a whole lot of chat back and forth between Dimbleby and Co.

The piazza is a waste of time and is just a rehash of what they did in 2005 on the Gateshead Quays, which equally was pointless. Jeremy Vine is embarrassing although the VR does look impressive, but is it really all needed?

Edit: And now Dimbleby being caught off guard saying "Oh for gods sake" as the news bulletin ended - I get the feeling something has gone very wrong in Elstree tonight...

Dimbleby's lost it now, good job it wasn't a real swear word, and then someone runs past in shot with a tray of coffees.

Rita with a news update, first time she's been seen for about 3 hours

I like how Laura seems to have converted her "social media" role into that of a general analyst.

Dimbleby's Partridge-esque response to the Beer, Baccy and Scratchings party was amusing.

Compared with the BBC's Scottish referendum results programme last year this is really poor. That programme was mostly hours of talking but it was excellent, well paced and staged well at Pacific Quay. Also showed that Huw Edwards really is the master of this type of thing now.

Geez the technical problems are really killing the main BBC coverage tonight. Seems like just about every declaration they go to, there's a picture or sound glitch of some kind...

Think he was going to speak but then they played the Election 2015 titles just after the news. I guess he wasn't aware that would happen.

Major Computer reboot which disrupted the BBC effort for a good 30mins, it would appear.

I think the Dimblebot needs a reboot too.

I've been watching online on the BBC News website, and I can see the some of the technical issues.

I even might have heard Dimbleby get frustrated at the technical team when coming out of the 4am News Summary. I think it's partly down to an inexperianced technical team. But I don't really know.

Also with Vine in the Virtual Studio, yes I agree that some of it is over the top. Most of the animations are. A prime example was the 2010 Australian General Election on Channel 9. Mostly pointless, and rehashing existing content from 2D graphical presentations.

Also, are they using TVC for the General Election. It looks like Studio 1, and the same studio from Election 2010.

Is Dimbleby having a meltdown? Noticed him arguing with one of the production staff whilst the others were talking.

Long long trailer for Artsnight on BBC World News; I assume BBC1 was on weather.

(DR2 dropped out of their non-graphics feed of BBC1 at 7:00 CET to do their own breakfast programme so I'm now watching WN online).
