Jeremy's green screen was part of the Elstree set I'm pretty sure. There were some convincing angles of Jeremy's back looking on to David which I don't think could have been faked.
That said, That set is just ugly. The pixelated screens of the newsroom were awful in 2010 and they were awful last year. It looked shocking in close up shots and it still didn't look much better in wide shots. I hope they have a better set design this year.

When the Election night coverage comes from that big circular set, as it did in 2010 and last year, Vine is in the studio. I don't know if it happened in 2010, but last year they had some nice shots throwing from the main set to the virtual part, with one of the virtual sets looking like an extension of the main studio, design-wise. Vine doesn't/can't be in the studio when the coverage comes from N9 (back in the day) or Millbank.

The Vine bits have always been in a different studio up to last year. It always used to be ITN, then for the US election they brought TC5 back into use with a temporary gallery.
They certainly have been using Studio A for some Vine bits - not sure if it's recording inserts for news programmes analysing ahead of the election or if they're just rehearsing/testing. But it makes sense as the set at Elstree won't be ready this far in advance.

You seem to be forgetting 2010, when the Vine bits were also in TC1, the same studio as the main election set, as seen here:

I can't remember them doing any clever shots like those seen in the video above, where the virtual set was on-screen when the main, physical set was also visible. I can't remember them using the staircase either, although I could be wrong?

They did do both of those things, though not much. Here's an example of a Dimbleby-Vine handover where both the real and virtual sets are visible.
(Should start at 9:33 - if not, that's where the relevant shot is)
And here's an example of them using the stairs, in a 'climbing up the stairs in 10 Downing Street' skit.
(Should start at 10:21)

That was true for the smaller scale Local/European and US election coverage, but not for the General Election. Historically Jeremy, and Peter Snow before him, were in TC1 for the General Election.
The most recent Local/European election coverage was unusual in coming from a large studio - but AIUI this was partially as a testing ground for the relocated hub (the big upstream operation that co-ordinates all the outside sources that need to be routed) and the connectivity with the rest of the BBC. Much better to rehearse with a lower profile show than do it for the first time on the General Election.

Yep - same as before (Peter Snow used to pre-rec CSO graphic sequences for the Six and Ten in N6 in 2001) - just with better VR now that Studio A is available.

Quite a few little formatting slip ups on the BBC Election website such as Alliance Party being donated in grey on the constituency lists but Gold elsewhere. Also why do the BBC only allocate colours to parties on a seemingly arbitrary basis? Parties such as The Liberal Party which are fielding only 4 candidates get an identification colour, yet CISTA are represented in 'others' grey despite fielding 29 candidates.
