I expect its just to show off the studio, there isn't really any real reason to come from the election results studio except for the election results!
That main shot of Huw facing the camera is a bit much, they need to tone it down a bit.

They did it back in 2010 as well and unveiled it on the 10 O'Clock...
I'm surprised they've still unveiled the studio tonight, with it being in Elstree rather than just down a corridor. I suppose they did broadcast the BBC News from a high rise block of council flats in 2012 so coming from a distant location isn't a big issue.
