Also, I suppose the kind of people who choose ITV for the kind of event where the BBC generally dominates are unlikely to care much about what it looks like.
That's perhaps the same logic that Sky News applied in 2010 when they didn't have a special studio and mostly just presented on location.

I've just seen the trailer for ITV's coverage.
Apparently no expense was involved in the slight tweaking to the CGI background, and it seems Julie Etchingham still has to manage with an imaginary touchscreen.
When a broadcaster makes so little effort, perhaps it would be better if they didn't try at all. Just stick a decent film on, for those who aren't interested at all in the election.
