I thought I'd start a thread specific to the BBC's election coverage as today seems to be the day where things have gotten under way, from special Election programmes on the NC, to the launch of an 'Across the BBC' promo for election coverage.

The promo itself is quite nice, including the faces from most of the BBC's big news shows, whether that a radio show, proper news or other productions like Daily Politics and Question Time. There's a slightly weird to see shot with Dimbleby in Studio E at the end of the promo too. I can't see it on YouTube or anywhere similar, but it has featured on BBC One a few times today, with it airing just before the start of the Richard Dimbleby lecture, so you can current rewind to it on iPlayer.

There are Four version, one each for the nations. BBC news also has its some new touch screens and new sections.

Indeed, all the nations seemed to have aired the promo at the same time so it's easy to pop back and see the differences. The programmes/things/people featured seem to be Sophie Raworth, The Today Programme, 5 Live Breakfast (in the nations a local radio show), Question Time, Andrew Neil, Newsnight (Scotland 2014 in Scotland, S4C/Newyiddon? in Wales), Huw Edwards (Newsline in NI, Reporting Scotland in, erm, Scotland) and then Radio 1 Newsbeat, before ending on two presenters (Dimbleby/Raworth in England and Wales, and then local presenters in Scotland and NI) saying the whole 'making it clear on the BBC' line.

So do we know yet where the main BBC Election programme will come from? Will it be Dimbleby in Studio E with other stuff around NBH?

Elstree Studio D, I believe.

I think the VR stuff is in Studio A this year.

Weren't the European election results last year at BBC Elstree essentially a practice run for this year?

Pretty much. European Elections wouldn't normally get such a big set - it was more or less a dress rehearsal for this May.

It was also a rehearsal for having to deal with an enormous number of OBs following the closure of CCA at Television Centre.

Now I know I'm being thick, but I'm still confused by Jeremy Vine's location when they used Elstree last time. Was he in Elstree or in TVC/NBH?

These pictures make it look like he's in the same studio as Dimbleby...
