I think they live in the East Midlands.

I still cannot understand how Anne's ironing board works without a JML ironing board cover. I would have thought that, unless she irons with brute force on very low temps, the perspex would have melted by now.

Or is it just another amazing invention by BBC R&D we commoners will never get to use?

Yup, EMT is a good regional news programme. I've seen it a few times but I do have one BIG complaint:

Why doesn't the programme cover Northamptonshire, even though it is receivable everywhere North of Daventry and Northampton?

I have family in Wellingborough and can't stand Look at Norwich (aka Look East - Norwich this, Norwich that...), so I watch EMT which is better but doesn't bother with Northants, even though it's adequately receivable in most of the county! AAARRRGH!

OK, rant over!

Problem is here in Northants we are a triple crossover county, served by BBC South (Oxford sub opt), BBC Look East (west sub opt) & BBC East Midlands Today. The official BBC Region for Northants is Look East which does cover the county in its west sub opt. I must admit though, Look East doesnt devote much time to us other than in the sub opt, everything else is Norwich this & Ipswich that. Anglia is very good for covering Northants.

Yup and Central South, Anglia West and Central East. I find it strange that all of those three ITV news programmes cover Northants but only Look at Norwich pays lip service to the county, while EMT and ST Ox virtually ignore it. It really is inconsistant and down right annoying.

Yup - this makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach. This is why the BBC is creating a new region based in Milton Keynes. See here

It would be good if EMT covered Northants as well, together with a new Oxford-based news programme, if the Beeb can be bothered to create one.

So are Central South and Central East.

Yes ive never understood the Three Counties radio set up. It advertises itself for Beds, Herts & Bucks but BBC Northampton always opt into it as well. I think Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire need to be on the same region as theres a lot of people who go to Milton Keynes & North Bucks from Northants. I myself am constantly going to either Northampton or The Concrete City (Milton Keynes).

I believe Anne lives in Loughborough, I think she mentioned that on the programme once?

That'll change though when the East-West split happens. Sandy Heath is splitting from Tacolneston and Sudbury, and carrying a totally seperate news region on the BBC. The new regional news base for the Sandy Heath area's going to be Milton Keynes. Check the BBC's Press Office site for details...

Nope, I explained a little bit about where they live on the first page, although it is in Leicestershire it's nowhere near Loughborough, unless she's moved in the last couple of months.

i like Ann but personally i cant stand dominic he is sooo miserable hardly ever smiles and always dressed like he is going to a funeral. yes harsh words i know but i just don't like it i much prefer the presenter who fills in when Dominc is not there althoguh i will admitt Anne does do a very good job
their new studio is also very poorly set out with all that space and they have gone for a very cheap version , and as for the credits wel....
I watch Mdlands today with Nick Owen and Suzanne verdi much better maybe a little more formal but i do like their approach to news and they are rather thorough in their reports!!!

Interesting use of image on the projection screens behind Anne + Dom tonight. The 'London 2012' logo with the Olympic rings. Interesting because you could see the image reversed in the mirrors at the side at the beginning of the programme.

Also, what has happened to Rob Dorsett, he hasn't been on since before Christmas!

I'm currently working on an essential college project in Media Studies and need to locate a song/tune that was used on East Midlands today in 2002/2003.

The song was a peaceful humming tune that was played as the yellow title sequence for 'Goals on Monday' flashed.

Can anybody remember what the song was?

This would be a big help.

Thanks.
