Unconfirmed rumours, she may well have signed the contract with itv, and is still on breakfast until she's 'officially ' announced as the new presenter. Maybe they're still looking for a male host?! Or maybe Susanna has turned itv down last minute?? We can all speculate, but will just have to wait and find out

You're right, we certainly can speculate! Absolutely, we'll have to wait and see.

Jon said at the end that Bill and Susanna will be presenting tomorrow.

I can't help get the feeling that the rumours surrounding Susanna's defection to ITV have been somewhat exaggerated. It was rumoured that the new Daybreak presenter would be presented this week, which never happened, and that Susanna is back tomorrow, makes me think that perhaps it was a publicist hyping the possibility, or overstating the stages of even the idea of Susanna being approached/in talks with ITV. Was it a coincidence that she was on holiday, unable to comment/deny, and all these rumours fly around?

I think she will stay with the BBC.

Speaking as someone who (A) exclusively favours watching BBC Breakfast in the morning, and (B) would much prefer to not have Ms Reid on my TV screen (at any time of day/night), I would very much like the ITV defection rumours to be true.

However, I share aconnell's cynicism that the past week or two's hype may well merely be misleading ITV plc PR bluster.

Susanna always takes half-term off - this is nothing new. People are reading far too much into her absence this week.

I hope she has turned it down. Louise would replace her on Weekdays, but the weekends would be bad if that happens.

Indeed and Christine Bleakley was still on the One show for weeks while contract negotiations played out in the press.
I think she is definitely going and I suspect Louise will go 4 days a week when she does. With her regular fill in work on Five Live she is already doing a 4 day week.

Interesting tweet from Steph. Seems quite normal on the face of it but given the circumstances, 'love my team' and a mention of Susanna too - it's as if shes telling us something. I wonder if this ITV deal has been hugely exaggerated?

Or maybe she just loves her team?

Not entirely true. The infamous "I'm torn..." press release from Christine, which properly acknowledged the negotiations (and was probably an incredibly foolish piece of brinkmanship) came after The One Show started a fortnight summer break, and that was when stuff started getting properly played out in the press...

The minute Christine signed the contract with ITV (after the BBC withdrew from negotiations) she didn't return, and unlike Adrian didn't continue on-air until the end of her BBC contract.

Er No it was actually the end of months of speculation, the BBC 'withdrew' their offer just over a week after the 'I'm torn' statement
In my original post I was talking about the period before the 'I'm Torn' nonsense. Once Adrian left there was months of media speculation about her joining him on ITV or staying put while she continued to present the show. (indeed at one point the BBC was briefing that she had already agreed a new contract!) Pretty similar speculation and situation to what we have now with Susanna.

came after The One Show started a fortnight summer break,.

It was actually a full month break for World Cup 2010

You're absolutely right - it was a 4 week break. The One Show upgraded to HD during the off-air period.

Susanna Reid confirmed as new presenter for good morning Britain, so who will replace her on breakfast?
