MediaGrauniad have a report suggesting that she is in talks with ITV, although it doesn't say anything has been confirmed.
As there has been no denial from either party, we can probably take it as read that there is something to the rumours.

Perhaps, but the BBC don't like to be played, after all it was them who removed the offer for Christine bleakley which forced her to daybreak as she took to long deciding. So, a big risk if it is just a plan by her management team.
Could it all just be a ruse on the part of her management to strengthen their negotiating position with the BBC? Morning anchors here in Aus are always all-but-confirmed to be jumping ship come contract renewal time, yet always end up staying on with a fatter paycheque.

And nor do they need to be, the Breakfast format (as far as I can tell from a safe non-watching distance) is far above one presenter.

I agree.
The thing about Breakfast is that it's format and hour clock has not changed for ages.
Viewers love that.
They time their mornings by when slots come on and the production team work hard to make this happen.
New habits take time and ITV don't seem able or willing to give the new show that time, without constantly changing and tweaking it.
Mornings in most households are very routine, Breakfast fits into that routine and has for years now.
Regarding presenters, the BBC has been very clever, in keeping and shuffling the family very well, and by ensuring Bill & Susanna and Louise & Charlie made the change to Salford, protected the on air family and made the huge loss of Sian manageable.
It also actually uses the space it has very well, and does more music than it ever did. Those saying that B would be perfect for Breakfast are wrong, I think. Personally it was at its best when it was in N6 - fluffy clouds aside
- as the desk and sofa both worked well there. Having said that there were times when TC7 were amazing, for Christmas for example, but they were few and far between and most of the time it felt too cavernous and not at all cosy.

Could not agree more - someone else suggested that the Breakfast format was "stale".
He/she obviously just does not get that the format of Breakfast is exactly what the majority of people want in the morning. If something works why feel the need to regularly change it?
That's exactly why "Today" on BBCR4 is as successful as it is - it has remained consistent over the years.
I agree.

I don't think there was ever a sofa in N6 was there?

There definitely was between 2006-2008 when Breakfast and Nationals were in there.
