This morning Charlie Stayt is co-presenting whilst pointlessly standing in a flooded road in Staines. All he's doing is linking to reporters standing in similar situations. It adds absolutely nothing to the programme that couldn't have been done from the sofa in Salford.

I caught the end of C4 News last night, they had Jon Snow and friends also stood in a flooded road in Staines,
though Snow was gently sending up the ridiculous situation they were in.

The main story today being storms last night in Wales and the North, so they send Charlie Stayt to a flood in the south, you couldn't make it up, he's probably 24 hours late.

It also means the rest of the programme is poorer as Louise has to present it all herself.

His interview with local resident and magician Paul Daniels was a highlight, I felt.

Breakfast: Meh.

So contenders for the new BBC Breakfast presenter, now it seems Susanna Reid is off to the career grave yard that is ITV Breakfast TV...

Naga Munchetty
Steph McGovern
Sally Nugent
Sian Lloyd

Anyone else? Think it would be nailed on that Louise moves to Monday-Wednesday (or perhaps Thursday).

Considering she's off to present the rival show on the rival channel I wonder if Susanna will present Breakfast again, or would it be better to put her on immediate gardening leave, with Louise taking over from this week?

I doubt Naga would be Susanna's replacement due to her 5-8AM shift on World.

Uh...well, presumably, she wouldn't do both. I strongly suspect if Naga was offered the Breakfast job, she'd drop the 5-8AM shift like a sack of spuds.

Susanna working for ITV may mean a lower rating for her, but it does mean other opportunities, presenting a prime time entertainment show like Fiona Bruce gets to do, being part of ITV News coverage of events, possible cover shifts on ITV News, not to mention a new challenge, more money and no commuting.

Even if she only does 12 months in the slot, the payday might mean she could also afford to go a few years with less high profile work meaning more time for her to spend with her family and you could argue more security.

Why is it that TV stars changing channels is frowned upon? In every other walk of life people are encouraged to move on Rolling Eyes

I don't think its so much frowned upon as such its a silly career move in many people's opinion. As for her replacement on Breakfast it will probably be Naga which would mean the 5AM shift had none of the main presenters it did back in December.

Give the gig to Steph McGovern, if nothing else, she's comes over as the best educated of the four of them.

Steph would be the most controversial choice, considering the criticism she received for using her Teesside accent when she started on the biz slot, however she comes over as the most natural of personalities.

However I can see them moving Louise to Mon-Wed with Naga the rest of the week as two safe pair of presenters.

That would be my ideal, I rarely see it at weekends so don't really know what Sian Lloyd is like presenting but given what I have taken from the sport's segments Sally would be my last choice. For anyone who has moved to ITV Breakfast it does seem like a bad career move which has barely lasted more than a year - Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakly haven't really done much other than Adrian on the football since Daybreak and it seems like a bad career move for Susanna who is a journalist opposed to a TV Presenter like previous Daybreak presenters. What will this be Daybreaks Fifth Rebrand/Refresh in 3 1/2 year.
