Does Bill Turnbull even manage to do 3 days now? Whenever I flick on Mon to Wed he hardly ever seems to be there.

Am I right in thinking he does Songs of Praise? How often do they record that?

Songs of Praise has a large roster of presenters, so I don't suppose it takes up too much of his time. He isn't on tomorrow either, so it looks like a holiday.

Added to the fact that with Strictly, Susanna is only doing two days a week, it's certainly more work for Louise and Charlie at the moment. They were both presenting this morning.

Ex BBC and STV presenter Juliet Dunlop was doing the newspaper review on Breakfast this morning - seems odd seeing her on the other side!

I didn't realise she'd left STV (no reason I should've done really, since I don't live in Scotland). What's she doing now? Freelance pundit?

Juliet left STV ages ago, but she seems to be doing a lot for The Scotsman...

So an explanation for Bill's absence from the sofa. The Mirror says that he has been hit by illness, and that he could be off for up to two months, though Bill says otherwise below.

He also tweeted, after some absence from the site:

Get well soon Bill!

I wish Bill a speedy recovery... but if we get more Simon McCoy on Breakfast I am happy.

I hear that Russian Oligarchs are taking over some expensive residential areas of London: but surely they haven't yet re-designated some parts as the sovereign territory of the Russian Federation?

Here's a screen-grab of a report by Simon Clemison, LIVE from St Petersburg this morning . . . outside Lambeth South Tube Station Laughing

A report's been playing out this morning about the history of some BBC idents by Nick Higham, including a few of the old mechanical models. And unusually for Breakfast, even using some graphics in the studio to show some more recent ones!

You can watch it on iPlayer rewind in the next couple of hours if you missed it, or I expect they'll be playing it on the news channel later through the day.

Was there a particular peg for this report - or was it just a nice meander through television history? Are the BBC about to change their on-screen look for instance?
