I wonder if they've in some way gone to extra effort to get these 'big name' guests to prove a point though.
How can anyone seriously think this after the past few months guests being big names? Most of the time in London the guests were old thespians!

And 5 live too? I see absolutely no evidence for your statement or any logic behind it. If anything even more stuff will be headed to Salford not less.
No they haven't, guests go to where the ratings are.
Oprah used to get all the major stars to Chicago for her show because she was number one. What other big shows were in Chicago? zero.
To be honest, I think Breakfast will probably move back down to London, but quietly after a couple of years.

There isn't any logic behind it, but it's the sort of thing that one could easily imagine happening based on other programmes having to leave the regions to get guests.
And no, I don't think 5 Live will move due to the nature of that medium.
Please don't bring irrelevant American examples into the conversation, as you will begin to sound a lot like CityProd.

A good reason for them to move back to London is that the entire rest of their department is going to be based in the same building. Five Live isn't a part of BBC News, Breakfast is. There is fair arguments that say having one BBC News programme based halfway up the country causes unneeded duplication and complications, which costs money.
If there was a small department of similar size to the Breakfast team which could move up north then I could see them coming back down south. How about the One Show?

That'd be an insult/kick in the teeth to those at BBC Birmingham.

We'd end up with the same arguments about guests but even more so because the One Show relies on them more heavily. Don't forget, the One Show started in the Midlands.
Am I the only one who is a bit fed up of this tedious "will they move back down South?" conversation?

I think it's more a case of "when will they move back down south"?

Well can we worry about that if and when it happens rather than endless speculation, albeit fuelled by bad journalism? Starting to sound like the Daybreak thread in here....

Nope
None of us know the answer, and none of us can state "they'll definately never move back South" either, so we're gonna keep going round in circles.
