I have no idea what the answer is, perhaps someone here knows,....has the Pm or Nick Clegg or the leader of the opposition or his deputy ever appeared on Breakfast in Salford? They were all moderately regular on set in TVC.

IIRC Clegg has been there twice and Dave has been on once since the move. The last time Cameron was on was before the Olympics when it was coming from Lund Point and Bill interviewed him in the Number 10 garden. I don't think they were on much more when it was in London.

Politicians will go to Breakfast no matter where they are in the country. If they want an audience of millions of people, they'll take a trip up the M6!

Well actually they would go on the Today programme

As in Radio 4? Completely different demographic of voters.

This is the same old question that keeps cropping up, rather annoyingly. I can assure you that there are no plans to move Breakfast from Salford. Viewing figures are strong and there is no issue with management regarding the guests on the sofa or 'down the line'.
It needs to be put to bed.

No plans, Isnt that a political wriggle statement like 'spending time with their families = sacked? Smile

There were 'no plans' to move BBC production into Broadcasting House and certainly no plans to close White city.

If the viewing figures & appreciation indexes go south then so will Breakfast. You can always find studio capacity and office space if management makes that decision.

As many people have found out BBC management is notorious for making so many U turns they get themselves in a twist!

You do love to spead the same tired cliches. Didn't you tell us a few months ago that the BBC wasn't now going to sell TVC as the politcal climate had changed and no final decision would be made until the new DG was in charge. 2 weeks later,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Laughing

Very different audience. Politicans go on Breakfast/Daybreak/This morning because of their large female audience and a large proportion of them tend to be swing voters!

What are you on about? I said the morning shows ie including BBC Breakfast have a strong female skew, which is why politicans want to go on them.
Who said anything about brainless and flaky? Rolling Eyes Women are generally independent voters who are less politically affilated. Surely anyone who knows anything about media and politics knows that!

It was reported only months ago that ED Miliband and his cabinet were trying to appear more on Breakfast and Daybreak and less on Today and Newnight.

Quote:
Miliband’s leadership began with a blank page. But 18 months on, the Labour Party is tearing up its official policy reviews, with the shadow cabinet instead told to go out and create a “buzz”.
Buoyed by strong local election results, Labour strategists believe the public is more responsive to one-off eye-catching proposals, rather than the process of how they fit into a formal policy-making process.
Labour frontbenchers have been told to target ITV’s Daybreak and BBC Breakfast to reach voters outside the Westminster bubble. Appearances on the Today programme on Radio 4 are less effective at communicating key messages , according to a briefing given to the Shadow Cabinet.

I did think a few months back when the deputy editor appeared on Newswatch defending the programmes move north that he would have been far better off not doing it in a London studio (where Breakfast was previously from) and should have done the interview as a dtl from the Salford set saying "we like it here and we are staying" Why on earth come to London for that interview? Even the guest complaining about the move was a dtl from the north.

Surely that shows how easy travel is..?
