To be honest, I was a lot like that too. She didn't deliver on her cues very smoothly either at times. When Roger finished his part of the script on the autocue, there were a few seconds of silence before Steph realised that it was her time to talk.
At times, she was overly smiley and her tone of voice sounded rather wooden and insincere - a lack of natural, correct intonation on the news stories, too.
She seems to have been thrown in at the deep end this morning - from a viewer's perspective - and while she was good at times, I'd rather see her in her comfort zone in business news, which she seems to grasp excellently. You have to start some time at the big gigs, but I think giving her a Sunday shift would have been better to try her out on, rather than on a Bank Holiday Monday when more people will be watching and thus more potential for things to be noticed when it goes wrong. Luckily, nothing did and it was as smooth as any other Breakfast is.
All credit to her though - on very few occasions did she look only a little uncomfortable. Otherwise, she seems to be naturally confident and captured the bubbly sort of personality needed for Breakfast television. I'd like to have seen her handle more serious news however. This morning's programme seemed to be a bit more laid-back. Her interview with Rita Ora was excellent. Upon reading my comments from before, I'd like to see Steph a few more times, and I think she is capable enough to cover Sunday shifts, if this materialises in the future.
I'm in the process of posting a video on YouTube, but the sound is mute at the moment, so will be fixing the problem today and uploading it ASAP.
