Naga disappeared before the end of Breakfast this morning (but not to do the Andrew Marr Show news) Confused

Yes, I found that a bit odd. Can't think of any reason why she would do that.

Plane/Train to catch back to London ?

Oh yes she did. Smile

She left to do a live 'off air' pilot with TC7, and will be reading the news next week into The Andrew Marr Show.

Interesting! It would make so much more sense for Salford to do the bulletin, economically and practically. Was she using the small contribution studio used for NWT breakfast bulletins? Did they use the normal BBC News backdrop?

^^ I wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for the info, Chris! Will look forward to a Salford and London duo for Andrew Marr next week.

Sue Thearle did Andrew Marr (and Tom Jones) this morning. So, did Naga bump Sue off the sofa, or is Naga going to be a summer filler inner for Sunday Olympic Marr Breakfast Time?

Or is there a new show coming up from next weekend, Sundays with Nags?

For those keeping tabs, she wasn't on her normal world slot last week either. Martine Dennis was filling in for her, at least on Weds, Thurs and Fri.

Points of View discussing BBC Breakfast Salford move. Adam Bullimore, the Deputy Editor of BBC Breakfast responding to viewers' comments about quality of guests. He replied that the fundamental purpose of the programme, its news, hasn't been compromised.

And if anything proves the pointlessness of Points of View it's the fact the viewer was allowed to say he assumed the ratings had plummeted, which is blatantly incorrect and Bullimore should have been allowed to pull him up on it. This programme allows its correspondents to say all manner of unconstructive and ill-informed things and never correct them, while a few minutes later it was laughing at Kay Benbow of Cbeebies for "caving in" to viewers' opinions.

Did have to laugh at a very southern sounding person being dragged up to Media City to stand outside and have a moan that had very little substance apart from the fact there had been a few 80s pop stars on. Quite right that the editor pointed out that news was the programme's main focus, something's that has been rather forgotten in the controversy over the move.

Jon and Naga this morning showed how much better they are than Roger on Breakfast. Jon has the balance between serious and light stories. Their personalities really do suit Breakfast. They could fill in during the week anytime with confidence I think. Let's hope we see more of this pairing - along with Naga and Nicholas Owen, as well as Jon and Susanna, who always used to work very well together. They both bring some younger blood to the programme and let's hope they continue to be involved with it in Salford.

Also, here's a capture of Naga reading the news into Andrew Marr from Salford this morning. The plasma really does give a much sharper image. No green screen here fortunately and no more fuzzy edges!

Media Boy was explaining on Twitter that it is a direct feed to TC7, with TC7 autocue fed into Salford, supported by the Breakfast team and controlled by Salford's SQ2 gallery.

Yes, that backdrop is crystal clear. Very crisp indeed. Plasma works well.

And.........mores the point, albeit a short broadcast, proves that the National News cam be devolved away from the Capital City!

Newsnight should move to Salford next.

...really? I know the "oh what about the guests" thing is a bit overplayed sometimes, and it's never good to use a cliche as an argurment, but Newsnight relies on political guests. Being a show about politics. Politicians generally from the Houses of Parliament. Yes, not all news is London so some news things can get away with it, and it's good to represent more places, but politics coverage tends to be based around there for a reason.
