Whoops! At around 3'45" into this clip. Studios not that small, surely?

I see they are using the dreadful CSO where day time summaries come from for Paul Lewis. I thought he was in the newsroom a few weeks ago?

The CSO being used now is much better than the CSO in the Business and Economics Unit that they used the first week.

I see Alan Soady is now in the same CSO. Could they not - a) get a London background, b) do it in the newsroom or c) do it in the news channel studio?

A) why does it need to be a London background? The geographical location bears no resemblance to the stories.
B) using the newsroom presumably involves needing a camera operator and possibly other additional staff
C) why go to the expense of using a full news studio and tying it up from being used for anything else when CSO does the job to an acceptable level.

The correspondent is credited as being in London, and so a London background would be acceptable - they use Salford backgrounds when speaking to someone there on the news channel. IMO the CSO is not providing an acceptable level of background for national tv at the moment, hence my original point.

Sorry but how does the CSO background differ to the background in the news channel studio which you suggested would be acceptable. If the CSO was from another BBC Centre then depending on which. The background maybe very similar. In addition the BBC distinguishes between Central London, West London and Millbank/Westminster so what would you purpose the background to be? A view of Westfield?

Looking at it again, I think it is the camera angle in the studio, more than the background which is a problem. It may be the fact that they are so close to the fake newsroom background that it appears to look very poor. That may be the case though if you get too close to any of them. A view of Westfield may not be that exciting, but would certainly be an improvement IMO.

The Business Unit camera isn't a CSO - it's a real newsroom behind it.

Are we expecting Bill/Susanna/Charlie/Louise to take on any extra BBC reponsibilities, such as a few relief news channel/bulletin shifts? I am just thinking that they are all presenting a lot less editions than before, so unless they have all significantly reduced their hours they must have other planned projects. I know Louise was supposed to be doing some presenting for 5 live - but I haven't heard about any of the others. In particular Charlie always seemed to present a high edition count through his own days and covering Bills so I would imagine would be looking for a few occasional extra shifts (in London).

I don't see why any of them would. Louise does some other shows - such as Missing Live, and she'll probably cover The One Show again. Bill, Susanna and Charlie have never really done anything other than Breakfast so I can't see why they would start doing things now..

Bill has reduced by 1 day, everyone else is doing exactly the same as before!
