This sunday: Roger Johnston and Sally Nugent.

Sally, yes completely.

Roger, no and NEVER again. I said that the first time, and they obviously haven't read our criticisms of him on here. How about Nicholas Owen, Jon Kay?

They need a couple more male relief presenters, if/when they get rid of Roger from Breakfast.

Actually the relief team ATM is sufficient surely?

Males: Nicholas Owen, Jon Kay, Simon McCoy, Roger Johnson
Females: Naga Munchetty, Sally Nugent, Fiona Armstrong

Perhaps they just need to bring Nicholas, Jon and Simon up north more. The obvious solution to the problem would have Bill & Susanna or Charlie & Louise present Sunday!

I'm surprised the Daily Mail hasn't kicked up a fuss about having to ferry up presenters from London every Sunday to present Breakfast, which they always love to mention has just moved to SALFORD. However, the BBC and the press releases etc. before move to Salford didn't mention this new arrangement we have for Sunday. I miss the old set up of 4 days for one 'couple', and 3 for the other 'couple'. Why couldn't Bill and Louise do Thursday together, because they both live in the North West now? That would fairly give Charlie and Susanna no extra days, since they both live in London with families.

Maybe because they don't want to?

Also, I'm not convinced Bill did move to Salford; I think he commutes for the three days he does.

I'm sure I've read that.

I don't really get why they're bothering with Sundays in Salford if this is the case - Saturdays you can understand as I wouldn't be surprised actually if that's the most watched edition of the week (no idea though if it is) due to it's later running time, but with the Sunday BBC1 airing over by 7.30am it might as well be from the news studio in London. Yes, it continues on the News Channel but viewers would be seeing something no different to what they've seen for the last few years.

It doesn't normally end at 7:30am, only if it's disrupted by sport.

^ The MOTD repeat is usually scheduled around 7.30, so it does for 10/12 months at least?

Can't say I'm a regular viewer on Sundays - took a look on the TV Guide and it shows it as running 6am to 9am for the next 2 weeks so assumed it was only occasional!

Does Andrew Marr still do a bit at 7.30am now they have moved to Salford? He used to come into N6 to speak about what was coming up on the show.

They still do. They throw to him sat in the studio and he does a run through of the show to camera à la Saturday Kitchen!

Because Breakfast's production team is now based in Salford - 7 days a week. It would be more work to try and set up one day a week in London based on scheduling reasons than to just keep the operation up there continuously. Obviously that seems to have an effect on the presenter lineup they use but as far as the programme itself is concerned, it's on the news channel 7 days a week and how much BBC1 shows of it is incidental.

Did you really expect them to?

I don't think I've ever said anything about him - and I have to say he isn't bad. I certainly prefer him to Jon Kay.

Neither of them are so awful that they should never work on television news ever again.

My comment was, as should be with many posts on the forum, to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Well, I watch Roger every weeknight on NWT so I feel I qualify to give my opinions of him. He's perfectly fine on that programme, the only really personality that you have to show is at the end. Tough act following Gordon, and by no means perfect, but doesn't put me off watching NWT at all.

With the Breakfast audience, firstly it's national, and also requires a certain kind of personality. He tried, by all means, and I know it is testing to have any form of credible chemistry with Fiona, whom he only just met. But I just don't think he worked. Simple, some people just don't. Just a bit wooden and a bit too slow. Who knows, he could be different with Sally on Sunday.

Jon Kay has had more experience presenting the programme, so it's unfair to directly compare the two presenters with their contrasting number of appearances on the show. Also, I have to say that Jon was great last weekend, considering it was his first time in the Salford studio and hasn't been on Breakfast for a little while after reporting on the anniversary of Titanic, which is his normal job.

And to be clear, I was talking specifically and solely about Roger. I'm by no means criticising or discussing any other Breakfast presenter. I think the rest are absolutely great when they present the programme, that's including the relief presenters, who have done very well from the ones we've seen from Salford before.
