I'm no cameraperson, but I wouldn't agree that a cramped shot with the co-presenter's shoulder visible constitutes good camera work. No wonder they don't do it anymore.

They could always shuffle apart between reports

I suspect that's unlikely to happen as from memory after 8:30am Carol does a separate weather forecast for the news channel.

I was thinking Carol could do a few OB weather forecasts from the Blue Peter garden in Salford, and perhaps come into the studio that way. It would be great to see a reunion at some point in the studio!

I'm sure it's feasible for the two presenters to move apart slightly to do a single-headed shot. Forgetting the shoulders, using the Breakfast lighting and backdrop, and in HD, it would look really good.

Carol stays on the News Channel until 10am, I think, but Carol in front of a green screen isn't the same.

Why is this a problem in that set? I can't imagine that studio/set is any smaller than say Look North (Leeds) who seem to easily manage to frame a natural looking two shot and close ups that don't have the other presenter's shoulder in shot.

Because everything's a problem in that set.

Actually I think the green screen is far better than the old method. There is actually more chat between the hosts and Carol now than before as the old studio set up made it awkward. It looks works better.

why can the presenters no longer get a single shot while reading the headlines .it looks awkward when the other presenter isn't saying eanything and just staring into space!

Or Susanna pouting & grinning at the camera!

I think the problem is the 'pillars', on the first day they seemed to not want them to be in shot at all so instead of having the usual centred shot Susanna appeared to be right over to one side. I think if they did a single presenter shot then you'd probably have a pillar in the middle of the background.
